Winning down there ain’t always easy.
We are 2-2 the last four times in cowbell city- One of those losses was Manning’s first game in 1994 -( he didn’t start, but first time seeing action).
The other one was the second to final nail in Dooley’s coffin before losing to Vandy in 2012.

So, realistically, VOLS BY FIDDY.

This. If the game were in Neyland we'd probably be a 10-11 point favorite. It's a concerning game due to the fact that they will be looking to go 5-0 and knock off a ranked opponent. We have the talent and coaching edge, we will just need to weather the initial storm and get up by a few scores to take the crowd out of it. Definitely don't want a team like this hanging around in the 4th. They will start believing really quick.

I’m seriously surprised by the many overly cautious posts in this thread. We have a really good team that if not for a botched FG would be undefeated and ranked top 5. Our talent is clearly at a higher level - what’s State’s blue chip rating? No new injuries last week and our starting DT returning. Boo’s snaps likely to increase more as he played better last week. Barring a QB injury or a disastrous number of turnovers and blown coverages then everything points to a solid win for the good guys. It’s college football and a Road conference game so nothings a given, but all this worry seems excessive. Think about it, does Miss St have an advantage against us in any position group?

Vegas is saying we are not as good as we think we are in this game. Also, Heupel is due for his one bad road loss of the year.

Your regurgitating the same baseless narratives. If the line is that important to you, we’re still favored over a TD in a conference road game. While I don’t buy the CJH one bad road loss every year nonsense, for those that do since this is our first road game of the year how then are we overdue?

Look at the facts. State’s blue chip rating is 19% which is the worst in the SEC. No position groups favor State. What data points towards them winning this game - none.

Terrible take. The only real game that mattered was GA. That’s the only one to truly gauge our D. And per usual our secondary just isn’t high caliber as a whole.

Soooo?? Was there anyone on VN that honestly was afraid of UGA this year being that we were playing at home and given their stellar...... performances against always tough Marshall and Troy (lol)? Heck no! GA defense was mediocre and far from defense's they have fielded in the past.

Would love it if MS State rolled over and played dead for us on Saturday however, I don't see that happening. I am sticking to the belief that this game and all future Vols games this year will be hard fought with no gimmies in the W column. Might we get one and maybe even two? Possible, but unless our D tightens up for 4 quarters, we're in for some nail biters.
