State is not going to be an easy game

I just think we have too many advantages at too many positions for State to beat us. They’re gonna scratch and claw and give us everything they have, but by the 4th quarter, they’ll be done.

Wade through them! Show no mercy! Send their players to the sidelines! Score at every opportunity! Thwart their every possession! Leave them psychologically scarred! Send the message to future opponents, we’re coming for you!

Two similar offenses that can score a lot. Neither defense is great. Gonna be a shoot-out. Home field advantage is huge. The Vols coming to town ranked #15 is a big deal to these schools we haven't played in a while. It's going to be really LOUD. Their fans won't sit around waiting for something to cheer about. Likely decided by the final play of the game.

Lebby is very good offensive coach and you can bet he will have a scheme in place that takes advantages of our weaknesses. I think we win in the end but I don't believe this will be a blowout by any means.
lebby will scheme it but their QB won't read it. He's a one read QB.

Hard to say. We know a lot more about UT than we do about MSU. Their best win is Az St who really hasn't looked nearly as good as expected. None of their opponents have been very good. If they had played UT's schedule, Syracuse and UGA would have both been by far their toughest opponents.

I suspect the poster who said UT would have to help them to make it a game is correct. The spread in my mind comes down to who is available to play in the Vol secondary.

By this, I mean that Tennessee needs to play a complete game on the road. If this Tennessee team does that, they will come away with a convincing victory and be better prepared for their remaining conference games. Bonus points to whoever picks up the references in my previous post.

Similar in what degree? Talent? I don't think so. Production? Absolutely not.

UT scores about 14 ppg more and has clearly played a much stronger schedule. UT is second by .3 ypg in the SEC and 110 ypg better than MSU at 9th... again see the competition.

Statistically, MSU is better on D but again they have not played an O of the caliber of UGA or Syracuse. Of course, statistically, UAB has a better offense than anyone MSU has played.

Heupel loves to start fast. It enables him to dictate the terms of the game and takes away options from the opponent in both scheme and playcalling. I suspect he will test their run D early. ASU had huge success against their run D. That sets up one on one match ups for UT's WRs...

If UT gets a couple of early stops, it gets ugly pretty quick. It is only close enough for the last snap to matter if UT helps them.

All of what you say is true. But we have one road game every year where you can just throw the stats and averages out the window. We start out slowly and get into a sixty minute battle. Dont know why it happens but it does. Have to always be prepared for it. We weren’t last year against Arkansas.

I’d like to see a heavy dose of Bishop, Lewis, and Thomas starting out. Wear their line down early.
Break their will in a manner of speaking. Then let Joey open it up for screens and the occasional deep ball.

Syracuse is a better team that MSU. Our Secondary will have their hands full, lets hope we get some healthy D-Lineman back for this week and we should be ok. 44-24 Vols!
