No matter who he hire, the DD slurpers will proclaim him to be exactly what we needed.

Now that everyone has moved on and no longer believes it will be Randy Shannon, our next DC will definitely be Randy Shannon.

And to the Dooley haters. No matter who he hires they will not like it.

What exactly has Dooley done to prove that he can get it done here? There are people here who give him way too much credit to the point of spinning anything that he does into some grand scheme being planned out by a tactical mastermind. The guy has been giving us turds and you all will call it gold.

Not true I have very little faith in DD but if he brings in a hot shot I can see him working himself off the hotseat. If he goes cheap outside of promoting Thompson then Id be upset. Just my individual viewpoint. That is all I can speak to.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was Mike Stoops (that is if it's not RS, which I do think is our next DC). Here is my reasoning (not an insider)...I know it's been heard that he will rejoin his brother at Oklahoma, but has that been confirmed? His name was mentioned early on immediately following the departure of Wilcox, but then so much steam picked up with the Shannon rumors that he has totally been forgotten...not really even mentioned. If DD and Hart are truly trying to keep this tight-lipped, then I think they maybe were feeding the rumors to the insiders to be used as a diversion. Who really knows at this point though! Just thinking out loud. I still say it's RS, because of SBV, DocVol, and I think Jmoore (who talked to someone from GMC after McCullers' visit and the coach from there said that DD told McCullers it is RS). If it's not, then Mike Stoops would be my 2nd guess, followed by none other than John Chavis (doubt that he wants to come back home after he was shown the door so rudely; however, completely different administration here now versus when he left). If the announcement is today, then I say it's RS. If it's not today, then Chavis definitely will pick up steam due to the timing after the NC game. Still don't think he would leave the juggernaut defense that he has at LSU, which will be better and more experienced next year.

With the ability to offer a package worth $750,000-$1,000,000, UT should be able to lure a very good DC. The biggest drawback might be a perception that DD is hard to work with based on losing so many from his coaching staff. Although, as the saying goes, money talks.

FWIW...the trackemtigers (Auburn) web site has rumors that their DC position could be between Zook, Shannon, and Ron Cooper (LSU's secondary coach).

Make Chaney the DC as well. That way his defense could get off the field as quickly as his offense.

exactly...we need a DC :)

My intuition tells me you'll have a "beef" with whoever DD hires.

You must struggle with reading. I stated Shannon would be a good hire as would Bumpas and there are others. The slurpers who are already proclaiming Zook a good hire "just in case" are proving my point.
