Honest question guys. If he was at UT. Would it make a difference with talent. We get much better players overall. But would his system be more successful here or Not? He can definitely coach a good game.

His offense cruises to 2 nattys at Florida. If he gets the right QB, WGWTFA

Mullen is used to 8 wins as a successful season! We already have that and don’t want more of mediocre 8-9 win seasons. no no and no please!

I think he will be able to recruit better players to Tennessee than he can at State. This should translate to more wins.

A good QB, like Prescott and Dobbs, can make any coach look better than he actually is. No thanks on Mullen.

Whew! Had to fix my spelling before the Grammar Nazis got me.

Use the same gif in your Gruden thread -- he is not coming to UT

If Donkey gets fired - Mullen goes back to UF

Actually, Mullen will pick us or Florida. Whoever offers first. His calculus for staying at MSU this long was to see if he could land the UGA job as it’s his dream job. Now that Kirby has it locked down, he will come back to East with us or Florida based on who offers first.

Keep Shoop and bring Mullen in to develop a qb and run something that resembles a offense and i wouldn't be upset about it.

So.... Let me apply the thinking of many of you anti-Mullen people.

James Franklin is at best a 9 win coach. PSU is elite and deserves better. Let's pass.

The fact that Mullen has had MSU in the conversation while the west was at its best tells me he could be really goods here. UT is on another level than MSU and would give Mullen a higher ceiling, same as PSU did for Franklin.

Lets put it this way.... imagine Mullen is interested in UT job over Miss State in 2008.

Everyone would be going crazy to hire guy then. He has done nothing but positive things since becoming head coach after leaving Florida with 2 natty’s.

Agreed. I think Mullen may be the safest and most realistic hire and is in my top 4 behind Gruden, Kelly, and Gary Patterson.

of Dan Mullen in Knoxville.

* HC of an SEC school, "gets it".
* Has had above average success there.

Thoughts?

The only reason Mullen leaves Miss ST is to get away from playing Bama every year. Well that blows him out of the mix.

In 8 full seasons in Starkville, he's had a five win, a six win, 2 seven win, and one 8 win season. how will it go over at Tennessee to have five out of eight seasons at eight wins or less?

If Mullen can win and go to 7 straight bowls while being in the SEC West with 3* recruits because nobody wants to go to Starkville, he could dominate in the SEC East.

I'm also big on Fuente, Wilcox and Chryst. Plus up and comers Norvill, Campbell and Brohm.

Frost is heading to Lincoln...Book it!
