Starting to doubt UGA

Unless the true freshman is the second coming of a insert legend here there's no way Georgia beats Tennessee. Very rarely do freshman QB do well in the SEC

Who was the last one that did? And to clarify we're talking true freshmen here.

Even our wonderboy Dobbs was atrocious as a freshman.

Rewatching last years game they had almost no sustained drives that ended in touchdowns. Of their 4 TD's only 2 came from the offense, 1 was set up by about a 30 yard run then a 30 yard pass TD. Then the other was just a bomb to Reggie Davis who was a couple steps ahead of Moseley. Against us last year their offense wasn't consistent, but it was explosive. I don't expect their offense to improve very much, while I expect our defense to improve drastically, if Butch doesn't go ultra conservative and we limit mistakes, this could be won more comfortably than we think.

I've seen where a CBS writer and others have the Dawgs winning the East.
While I think UT loses to them (after a huge emotional win vs UF and the Volunteer way is lose to new coach and QB) I keep thinking about why they have been thought of as having a really good season.
Brand new coach, fresh QB, uncertainty at RB, not exactly playmakers on the outside, and a defense that wasnt good at all last year.
The way it ties into UT is that I can see writers who have a hard time trusting the Vols to win the East... But how can they trust UGA? I would trust the Gators before them.

I will not worry about those fruitcakes until their week comes up. That is the most time they might be worth.

I live in Atlanta and have for many years. Trust me, year in and year out, Georgia is way over-hyped. Lambert is a good QB but he is not great. Eason is a true freshman from Podunk Washington who has never seen anything like the speed of the SEC. I have ZERO doubt we will make luggage out of the Gators and then neuter the Dogs the following week. GBO! :good!:

I worry also about getting an early 14 point lead (against anyone) and not going for the jugular.

Jim Chaney is a very good O coordinator IMO and can be tricky as a weasel, but Kirby is another dooley. It's already showing itself in the pressers. He says ALL the same stuff as dooley. He sounds exactly like dooley. He can't handle it. Those players are soft from years of Richt. It was his downfall. He brought in VERY athletic guys that were not tough. Kirby is losing his mind at the thought of soft players on the field. He doesnt know what to do with the players he has. 't's all unraveling for him as we speak. Chaney is the only thing holding them together.

You got all that from a presser. Smart is light years ahead of Dooley

Honestly I don't know it was used strictly to point out that Georgia's high expectations are a bit of a reach.

There will be enormous amounts of pressure on the coach which will trickle down to the QB.

Not saying the season will be a disaster but I think they'll fighting for 3-4 in the East.

We have said for years that Georgia, Florida, and Alabama simply reload (we used to say that about Tennessee). However, now that it appears the recruiting for Tennessee has been up to par with at least Florida and Georgia, this may be more of a consideration:

Georgia losses from 2015 -
- Replace 3 starters on the offensive line, one of which was drafted.
- Replace 6 of 7 starters on the front seven of the defense including a first and third round pick

Florida losses from 2015 -
- Replace only one starter on the offensive line
- Replace two of four defensive linemen, two of which were drafted
- Replace one linebacker, whom was drafted
- Replace three of five defensive backs (includes nickle), two of which were drafted

Florida seems to feel fairly good about replacing their d-line and db's, which they always seem to do. But with Georgia, I am not sure how they replace all of what they lost and bring a freshman qb in and be better than last year.

As it turns out most of us would be light years ahead of Dooley. I thought, at the time of Dooley's hire, he could be a pretty good coach, but I was very wrong. He talked a good game early on as did Hamilton. Both were the engerneers who drove our Athletic Program into the ground.

George may indeed be in the same ship.

dang, we are ranked #9 pre-season, well ahead of FL and GA, most have us winning the east and now everyone on this thread is arguing how potentially good FL and GA are going to be and feeling shaky about our chances sweeping them both....
