Starting QB for Auburn?

I think so. But, they should still let Schaffer play a few series in the first or second quater, and late if the game is a blow out. I think there should always be two QB's ready to play.

Yeah. If, for some reason, the passing game gets fudged, then we can switch over to Schaeffer and have a good running game on deck.

But, it is time to make Ainge the starter.

I think that if it motivates him to do what Ainge has done, then leave Schaeffer as the starter.

Keep Schaeffer as starter for now.... if for only to see how Auburn comes out defense wise. Its like being in the on deck circle and watching the pitcher pitch to the batter before you, getting his timing down. Plus, call it superstition, but "If it aint broke, dont fix it". until we lose, keep things the same.

YES, it would be hard for anyone to fight the issue that he has earned it. He has got us out of the hole twice now. Has anyone heard that Schaeffer may end up being a reciever? A lot of the guys at the game were talking about it they said they are trying to get him to come to the reality that as a QB he`s ok. As a reciever with lightning speed, good moves and hands he could go first round in the draft. Like I said it was just talk, they also said it was a way to keep him around just incase? I did not know if anyone else had heard anything on that or not?

But, if UT beats Auburn, I think it will put them into the big time.

If UT can win these next two weeks, they will be set

I keep hearing people telling me that we are 3-0 with this system why change it, and that may be true. My concern is that I don't think we can waste two series at the beginning of the game with anything less than our best. If we think Schaeffer gives us the best chance in that game then fine but don't start Schaeffer just because that's what we have done the first three games.

Ainge has shown that he is the one ready to take control, I say start him and bring in Shaeffer in if we have a lead just to throw the ta curve.... if not start teaching him pass routes a completed pass in the open field with him could be magic!

I agree. Ainge should start and Schaeffer should be the change of pace, not the other way around. The meat of the SEC schedule is not the time to be auditioning QBs.

I agree that Ainge should/will be the starter. Make him the starter but don't name him publicly. Force Auburn and Georgia (two of the 3 best Ds in the SEC) to prepare for both QBs.

As for Schaeffer becoming a receiver, that would be great, especially if Crompton sticks to his word. I suspect he'll pull a Brandon Stewart and transfer.

Remember last season when the Vols fell behind 14-0 at the beginning of the game. After watching Shaeffer struggle against La Tech the first two series, I don't think the Vols can afford that against Auburn. Put Ainge in, score first, score often, hope for a few Auburn offensive mistakes and/or turnovers, and try to outscore the Tigers/Eagles. Shaeffer can come in some during the 2nd quarter for a couple of series.... but again, if Ainge is hot, don't take him out and also score as much as possible while Ainge is hot. If La Tech can pass on the Vols' secondary, then that means that just about anybody can. The Vols will have to try and outscore every team they play.

I agree with freak. I don't imagine they are going to change, but I think they probably should. We can't afford to play around for a couple of series. Now, if we were able to run it down their throats like we did against UF, that's great, but I don't expect that to happen against Auburn. This will be by far the best d we have faced yet. We also can't rely on our d to hold Caddy and Brown early. If we get down early to them like last year, it will be a long night, and we will have to trhow every down.

In other words...Ainge should start, but he probably won't.

Ainge has earned the starting nod but i agree that CPF shouldn't go public.

La tech obviously planned and practices stopping Shaeffers run, let's make Auburn do the same.

I agree that we can't leave Ainge out for the first two series, let's get the ball rolling early. I haven't given up on Schaeffer but Ainge has proved alot.

Not yet... As long as Ainge and Schaeffer both get playing time, teams do not know what to train for. Ainge can make fairly long passes that will make for quick drives, and Schaeffer can dodge defenders and consistently make first downs.

But, after Georgia, I'd say bring in Ainge then put Schaeffer at WR.

hold the buss here.... thats assuming schaeffer can even catch! you cant just put a guy out there... remember leonard scott he couldnt catch to save his life. i say play schaffer but start ainge... i wouldnt announce it though just cuz they dont know what to plan for like the other guy said.
