Starting PG against Louisville?

I guess I'll chime in.

Honestly, that halfcourt weave at the top looks much better when Jordan or Ramar runs it. Problem is, when you start into your play, if you need the kickout 3 Jordan just is not going to hit it. Pearl's answer, giving the ball to the player best able to create when attacking, seems the best percentage at getting the most from all five spots. I still think Ramar can be an amazing point, and will be.

Most frustrating for me was watching C-Lo get his pocket picked time and again in these past two games.

We still have not seen everyone hitting on their game since really Memphis. We are due. Now's a good time.

As far as jump shots go, I don't think we have a PG that can hit one. At least with Ramar and JP they can get garbage points and drive to the hoop. I can't remember seeing a guard trio that is as incapable of hitting a jump shot as these 3. I will say Ramar I think has the ability to hit a jump shot...just not happening right now.

I think that JP AND Ramar should get 25+ minutes each with both of them on the court at some points. JP is a good rebounder, especially on the offensive end. I think Ramar would be much better against the press though. Anyone who says we had a bad defensive game against Butler doesn't know what they are talking about. They shot 36% from the field and their average for the season is 45%.

Our top 3 offensive players had horrible games against Butler. JaJuan/Chris 6/20 from the field and Tyler with 7 turnovers and no assists. They have to perform for us to move on, and I think they will.

I think even Bruce would tell you that FG % doesn't really determine whether your team played good D against a team like Butler that relies on threes. Our defense was sporadic at best, and the reason for the low FG % was because there threes weren't dropping, not because our D was so tight that we forced them to put up crazy shots with 3 seconds left on the shot clock...

Also, I may be wrong but I think I remember hearing something about us getting outrebounded pretty badly in the past two games, is that true or did I overhear something?

The good news is that Butler is a legit #4 seed in my opinion. We beat a dang good team and should be excited to escape out of there with a win.

The 2 big stats that stand out from the Butler game:

1. 20 turnovers
2. 3 3-pt shots in the last 40 minutes

Seems the guards as a whole are not playing well. Lofton we know was injured.

But this doesn't look like a team that is peaking which is what you have to do, to go deep in the tournament.

2. How does the point guard position shape up for the game with Louisville Thursday (9:57E)?

A - "We've given a lot of attention to that. It isn't normal at this stage of the season to juggle the lineup, but I felt it gave us the best chance of winning. Having J.P. Prince on the floor more means he has to be a one, two or three. We have Chris Lofton and JaJuan Smith at two and three, so that means Prince has to play the one position. He practiced there in preseason and through the course of the season. Prince did a terrific job and does a lot of things productively. He'll be challenged at that position this weekend. If I'm going to lose, I at least want my best players on the floor."

Let's just hope he passes to get the ball down the court and doesn't try to dribble his way through traffic. Prince is not one of the top 5 ball handlers on our team and looks clumsy and erratic with the ball. Everytime he comes down the court with the ball, I'm holding my breath and just hoping he doesn't get called for carrying the ball or traveling. His passes seem to be lazy and half hearted. Not the quick, crisp passes that you expect from a point guard. He just doesn't seem like he is a point guard to me and I think it will be a huge mistake if he stays out there too long. I was totally surprised to see that Prince would be getting the nod against Louisville. I thought Pearl would go back to Ramar and Jordan. I honestly feel that Howell is our best ball handler and would be effective at handling the press. Now shooting the rock is another thing but if we can't get it across halfcourt, we won't get a chance to shoot.
