Starting O-Line Predictions

Trey Smith will start. It is hard right now for wells because Kendrick Hall Boulware and Thomas not practicing. Ryan Johnson has filled in nicely at RG first team while Jashon is playing Center. Robertson is doing great at Center and should light a fire under Thomas.

Thomas isnt a bad center at all. Kid was bad as a tackle as a freshmen when he got forced into the spot and has played banged up most of his career. Really think he has a solid year with Wells and Rock getting him ready this time. I think he takes a lot more slack than deserved around here.

I think this group has the potrntial to be our best unit on the team the next 2-3 years. Lots of talent and depth. Like someone else said it seems to be the deepest its been since the fulmer days. At the least itll be as good as Jones first year when he inherited James, Richardson and Co. I just hope they perform a little better as a unit than that group. They had a lot of star power as evidenced by a few of them making the league but they never seemed to mesh well in the run game. Maybe it was just a bad fit for their style or maybe it was the first year in a new system or both.

LT Richmond
LG Robertson
C Thomas
RG Jones
RT Hall

Kendrick, Smith, Boulware, Tatum, Locklear, and others will play snaps as well. The OL hasn't been this deep since way back in Fulmer's time.

This is easily the most likely scenario, and one I would be happy with. Boulware, Smith, Kendrick, and Tatum will fight for time, but this is the lineup come August and September.

Let's hope the line is as good as people here are saying they will be. Every year we play the soft back half of the schedule and it looks like the line has improved. We then struggle aginst the first half of the schedule in the following year.
I do feel they will be improved over last year. More experience, better depth, better coaching.

If the line has a really great year who gets the bulk of the credit? Mahoney for recruiting? Wells for coaching? Rock for S&C?

Also, can the Oline really improve that much going aginst a depleted DLine this spring? I am guessing we won't know how the Oline is doing until we get to fall camp.

If this o-line group is as good as most of these post seem to think it is, qb's a running backs should have a field day.

Most feel the Vols Oline will be somewhere around the middle of the conference or possibly as good as 5th in the SEC.....regardless they should be improved from last year

Let's not forget about Nathan Niehaus and Ryan Johnson (for depth right now that is).

Richmond/Smith
Robertson/Boulware
Thomas/Johnson
Jones/Kendrick
Hall/Tatum

I would assume Niehaus and Locklear would play at one of the tackle positions if it came to that. Also, I know that Sanders has been hurt a lot the past few years but I assume he would see time at some point. Thomas Edwards is a big last resort as well.

Locklear will fill a role at C or OG imo. Thought Austin Sanders was done with football.

It's been reported that Robertson is the strongest offense lineman on the team who would be considered second or third?
