Alright guys, I just wanted to get everyones opinion on who they think the other starter at linebacker will be. Right now we know one will be McCoy, Lathers looks to beat out Reviez at middle. But who will be the other starting outside linebacker. I havent heard any other names really mentioned this spring other than McCoy and Lathers.

Countdown to kickoff is almost here! Go Big Orange!

Savion Frazier, Rico McCoy and Nick Reveiz will be the starters.

Lathers, Thompson and Askew will see a lot of playing time (Lathers will see the most)

i say mcoy and frazier and lathers/reviez will split play time almost evenly.

Reveiz isn't a an SEC caliber linebacker. I don't see him playing sideline to sideline, in the spring I was definitely more impressed with Lathers when I saw them play. Having said that I will trust Monte Kiffins judgment for who starts.

From reading the comments they really want Lathers to take the MLB spot.

I think Reveiz has a great work ethic, but is another "Ryan Karl" or "Robert Peace", lots of guts, but not real top level talent. I hope Lathers can step up and take the position.

Man, how often did Ryan Karl kill UT in big games. I'm glad the big, slow white guys at LB are a thing of the past.

well i would love to see Lathers start. I think King will get alot of PT as well if he keeps up the great play.

The defense also struggled greatly when Karl was injured. Nobody else could get the defensive calls right. I suspect that is also one reason Reviez will be on the field. Athletism can only take you so far, you also have to be in the right position to make a play.

Does anybody know if Lathers has gotten significantly bigger and stronger? I'm too lazy to look it up, but IIRC, he was about 6'0 and 205 or so as a freshman? Not questioning the coaches, but just tend to think of an MLB as bigger than that.

Heard he's at least 215lbs.

Here's the depth chart as it stands right now:

SLB - Thompson, Askew, King
MLB - N. Reveiz, Lathers
WLB - McCoy, Frazier

I'm not 100% sure on Askew, he could be working at WLB. So Thompson, Reveiz, McCoy would be the starters if we played WKU tomorrow. The only possible switchups I can really see are 1) Frazier being moved to SLB to start, but I think he stays at WLB because there are some injury long term injury concerns with McCoy plus Thompson is still holding his own, and 2) Lathers coming on strong and overtaking Reveiz. I don't personally think either of those will happen and I expect the depth chart above to be the same come WKU time.

Does anyone know if Nick Reveiz redshirted? I was thinking he was a redshirt sophomore, but a friend of mine was thinking he was a junior.

The UT sports website says hes a junior, but it doesn't mention anything about RS.

Academically, he could still be a junior, but be a redshirt soph on the field, so could anyone who knows help me out? Thanks.
