Starting LBs?

Rico of course is the only for sure. I think by the time fall is upon us we'll see Savion Frazier and Lathers/Thompson as the main starters. Whether or not they stay there, only time will tell. I just don't see any of the freshman being big enough or having the system down enough by the time WKU rolls around. This position is without a doubt the most well stocked.

defensive back seems pretty loaded

It is actually one of our thinnest going into Spring.

I dont see Donald showing up this year. I've heard he is a guy that may never really show up. He has all the physical tools but I know if high school they just let him run wild and he didnt ever have to play assignment football and I've heard thats why he may never see the field in the orange is beause he cant learn a defense

What about Gerald Williams? Didn't I hear that he was moved back to LB, or was that just wishful thinking on my part?

There are a lot of schools that will put their best athlete at LB and tell them to just make plays. That's how high school goes. But a lot of those LBs go on to be good players and pick up schemes well. Chris will be fine stop with the Negative talk please. He's really a big key to our defense taking off.

Yeah no kidding I know thats what high schools do but did you completely ignore the part where I said he cant pick up the system. Not touching the field thus far in his career and having a 5'9 walk on ahead of him should tell you all you need to know about Chris Donald's playing ability. I'm not a negavol I just dont have inspiring dreams for players that will never play a meaningful down.

I love how you talk about Chris Donald is a really big key to our defense and yet hasnt played any significant role. Then you get mad when someone points out the fact that he hasnt played for a reason, and yet, you bash Austin Rogers and he has played a very significant role in UT wins.

CD told me to tell you (non-believers) "that his time is coming"! Although, some of your assumptions might be correct. He did not have the best coaching in HS football and strived off of pure natural athletic ability mostly. He is a very intelligent and coachable kid. IMO CMK D-sheme is not going to be that difficult to learn. Players like CD is why CMK is going to love his job, and you better believe he will have his BEST talent out there. CLT already is pleased at the oppurtunity to work with CD. You will be amazed of what some real coaching will do. Obviously alot of players on D last year couldnt learn the playbook?? How many times did we have to get burnt on 3rd down plays, or play soft coverage when we shouldnt. It all boils down to coaching. CD is working hard and ready to make an impact come this fall. Hate all you want, nobodys dreaming here. Come this sept just sit back and enjoy the show because 19 is coming.:superman:

Nobodys mad. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If im not mistaken we have had several LB's red shirted under CPF that it took a couple years to see the field. Ex. (Mccoy, Mayo). CD will be a bigtime playmaker in CMK's scheme and will give opposing QB's headaches. CD will be used to his strength and thats rushing the passer. CD will make some big plays for us. He is a hard hitter, but he wont lead the team in tackles on a cosistent basis. But he will pile up some QB sacks, something UT hasnt seen much of in recent years. The harder the struggle the greater the reward.

Please don't bring Rogers up in this thread. I'm not going to start on him so we can leave it here when it comes to Rogers.

It's funny how Bama fans were heaping praise on Julio Jones before he played a down and our fans whine we do the same for our players. Also BJ Coleman has thrown like 8 or 9 passes and most people think he's our best QB. What has Coleman done? He does have a TD pass though. To the other team.

If you just notice some of the players mentioned in this thread, it reminds you of the talent that is on this team. When you think about the coaching staff that we have to teach these guys, it is exciting. I for one think UT will surprise a lot of people this year. Forget last year. I know most of these same guys were here, but they have never been developed properly. I can't wait until football season!

Who are your starters at LB?

I'm going to go out there and say mine are:

Rico McCoy- WLB

Chris Donald-MLB (what a talent! Ready to breakout. Watchout guys.)

Herman Lathers-SLB (yes-Lathers is a striker. With the extra weight added to his speed he could be special).

These are mine.

IMO, Austin Johnson will be one of the 3 starters...
