23.7 ppg returning for all players combined..

Assuming Scotty and Tobias leave and our signees bail, this is what we are left with...

The next fews years are gonna be rocky (no pun intended), unless we can get a good coach who can recruit quality players.

we don't even know if McRae, Golden, Maymon, Hall, or Tatum will be back. The only one who said he would be back is McBee. And of course Summitt.

IMO Hopson sucked it up so bad in the SEC tourney that he has no choice but to stay. Tobby is gone, probably Jones and Ware and oh yeah our coach so....

Well, both Jones and Ware have asked out of their LOI. If both Hopson and Harris leave for the draft we're left with a talent pool of a middle school team.

We're going to be pretty bad guys! I wouldn't expect us to get any good recruits for this coming season after all this news.

We're gonna struggle in basketball for at least a couple years. Getting a good solid coach might help that! Not good times for UT basketball. :shakehead:

What about juco's. Is there not a juco signing period for basketball?

The OP contains the bleakest possible scenario. It IS possible, granted, but it's not the only possibility.

For Scotty and Tobias, once the emotion wears off it's a business decision.

For the recruits, the new coach will get the chance to persuade them.

We need to hire well, for sure, but it's too early to write off the season yet.

Starting 5: Golden, McRae, Tatum, Maymon, Hall. McBee and Woolridge off the bench. Considering the circumstances, not horrible. But no depth

This. All of the we have nobody left posts are crazy. If only Scotty and Harris leave we still have a team. Not an all star filled team but a team none the less. Its about who we bring in as a coach and the system he implements with these players. Yeah we need more depth and im pretty sure the next coach will get a couple recruits in here next year if he is good. Time will tell.

Not that bad of a lineup IMO. It depends if these guys buy into the next system and I say they do. I'd be more concerned about the year following the next.

This. Any of those guys could request transfers. McRae or Golden being the most likely. IMO

I posted the below in a similar thread a few days ago (obviously prior to CBP officially being fired) and have now edited the probable starting lineup part...

I realize this is very premature and about a million things could happen before next season, but I needed to take my mind off that joke of a game.

Starting Lineup - Best Case Scenario
PG - Chris Jones
SG - Kevin Ware
SF - Hopson
PF - Harris
C - Hall

Starting Lineup - Worst Case Scenario
PG - Golden
SG - Tatum/McBee
SF - McRae
PF - Woolridge/Maymon
C - Hall

Starting Lineup - Probable
PG - Golden
SG - Tatum
SF - Hopson
PF - Woolridge/Maymon
C - Hall

I would have said Hopson was gone until 2-3 weeks ago and now I think he's played himself from a mid-first rounder to an undrafted player.

If Harris leaves, then we have ZERO inside game past Kenny Hall, ZERO.

If CBP is out, then Harris and Hopson are gone and I seriously doubt Jones or Ware come to UT.

Thoughts?

I think Harris is the only name we lose from list A, unless Jones fails to qualify. The new coach should be able to talk Jones and Ware into staying. That being said, there are some serious reasons to doubt whether Ware could start.
