Start Justin Worley.

How many starting Qbs have made it through the bama game this year? 1 or 2?

Good chance your right, I'd say.

Watsup, Larry...Simms is a tough sob, so I don't know if that will happen. But if history is any precedent, then he will give the job to the guy behind him, freshman or not. Same story as the SC game last year.

worley has a lot to learn to step on field right now. he just started learning how to game prep last week. Now he needs to learn to read defenses.

they really, really hope nothing happens to Simms

Who cares about the redshirt at this point. Who knows what they will have at quarteback then. This Peterman at Florida may be better then Worley, but if Worley is better then Simms, then you play your best player. If not you play Simms.

Worley is NOT better than Simms. At this point, he is not even close to Simms.

Neither are an SEC level QB right now but Simms can at least check out of bad plays.. JW can't..

I want to keep Matt in and just save Worley's redshirt..but whats with this handicapping freshmen QBs, like they can't do any better than a guy who is absolutely putrid.

You guys ever heard of Erik Ainge, Casey Clausen and Peyton Manning? They all have one thing in common. I'll let you guys figure that part out.

Clausen and Ainge were projected to be used and practiced with that in mind during August. Once Colquitt went down at UCLA, Manning (hard to compare anyone with Manning at any point) also immediately went into game prep work / mode.

Worley has not been preped at all on playing until last week. He is really getting base understanding of game prep and being counted on to play. Had he been in that mode since August, he would have a better chance to be ready right now. Staff just doesn't have time to work with the # 3 guy during the season.

i wanna know what makes you all think that worley isnt better than simms?. to me, you could of said this about bray last year, and look how it turned out. you never know unless worley takes the field..

You want to start Nance, not Worley

Starting Worley now would just be burning his redshirt for what, 3-4 games (1 of which we'll win regardless of who starts)

This, let Worley have another year before being thrown in

LWS and Hubbs have both stated Worley has never been through game prep until last week. If he was better, he would be playing. He isn't, so Simms is the starter until Bray returns.

well then, its time to start game preping him. if he can complete more than 6 passes, and looks like he has a clue(unlike simms) then you play him..

Simply put, I am not interested at all in watching a Simms led offense. Doesn't entertain me at all. Matter of fact, it puts me in a bad mood. Now Bray - he entertains me. Love watching him run our offense, win or lose. Can't wait until he is back.

Bray had game reps and was preping for games every week last year from August 1 on. He was preparing each week like he might play.

Worley started doing that a week ago Sunday. Up until then, he was holding a clipboard and sometimes playing scout team. Has done very little with our system since early fall camp except listen to Chaney.

big difference in what Bray was doing a year ago and what Worley has done this year.

I agree......he may be a better qb but why would you burn his redshirt at this point. Dooley is much smarter than that......this is truely not a coach on the hot seat....no need to sacrafice the future for a little better chance to win now. Stay the course coach.:good!:

This thread is proof why fans' voices should be muted. Anyone who thinks Worley is anymore capable of beating Alabama or South Carolina than Matt Simms has automatically proven that they know very little about football. Then again, I'm sure these are the same people calling for Dooley to be fired after 1.5 years.

I think Matt Simms is one of the worst senior QBs I've ever seen, but Worley and almost any other true freshman could not do any better against SEC defenses. Look at Jeff Driskel, who was rated much higher than Worley. He looked like a deer in headlights in his game action a couple of weeks ago. Starting Worley wouldn't just be burning a redshirt, but would also be asking the kid to get hurt and/or kill his confidence.

Part of me wants to give Simms a pass because he is starting against the 2 best defenses in the nation back to back but I can see us losing to Ark, SC and Maybe even Vandy if Simms don't step up. He needs to settle down, he has no poise he over throws receivers all day.

Thanks for the info:hi:
Makes sense based on Worley being a true freshmen and Simms starting some last year.
Imagine Worley has a better arm, I think thats what the OP was strictly thinking about.

The least of Simms' problems is his arm strength. He can sling the ball; the problem is his accuracy and decision-making. There were concerns about Worley's arm strength out of high school; that's one of the reasons he was a 3 star.

The people who want Worley to start are idiots trying to save a season that doesn't need saving with an 18 year old that's likely incapable of doing that task.

Simms has the stronger arm

I think it is safe to say that Matt Simms may be playing the worst of any UT qb I can remember. He is just terrible.

Apparently you have forgotten about a brave young man by the name of Nick Stephens...
