I’m taking my son to the game in Starkville. We’re both pumped but it’ll be both of our first time there. Any suggestions on things to do pregame from those who have been to a Mississippi State game before?

Hey guys! Long time lurker here. I live less than 2 hours way from Starkville. My wife and I are planning on driving up early and hanging out at Walk-Ons to watch some of the earlier games before heading over to the stadium.

Oh yea! We're ready for that for sure. We moved for my work about a year ago and this will be one of the closer games for us. My son is beyond excited so he'll probably be one of the loudest Vol fans there.

Nice! We're about 1.5 hours away, since we moved for my job and we're wanting to get there pretty early to make the most of the day.

Bring ear plugs for the cow bells.

This. The cowbells can get their stadium's decibel level to around 100-110, which is enough to cause permanent hearing damage, and it takes no effort on the part of their fans to ring them constantly for the entirety of the game. I think 100 is about the level of being next to a chainsaw, so just imagine being next to a chainsaw for three hours. It's not even like Neyland, which can also cause permanent damage but the noise requires fans to yell until they run out of breath. There they just wave the bells. All. Game. Long.

Especially for children, give them a chance to get out of that artificial noise soup intact.

Although, in a perfect world, Tennessee will silence the bells early and swiftly. That's always a hope. But, just to be safe, protect those ears.

The junction is always fun to walk around. Be lots of friendly people hoping you enjoy your time. We live in Columbus and have been to many state games, and for the most part everyone there is just there to have a good time. Hope to see some of you out and about before the game!
