If that is the case why are there far more 3 stars and under in the NFL than either 4 or 5 stars? The percentage was well over 50% the last time I saw it. That would be pretty much in line with the percentages of total players that make it in the NFL for each rating type from the total pool of players. More 3's than 4's, more 4's than 5's.

There are 25 or so 5* every year, and half go to pro.

There are several hundred 3/4*, and 5% go pro.

Numbers have been exaggerated to prove the point.

:lolabove: Some Vol fans have deluded themselves into thinking that it's a good thing that the staff has almost abandoned trying to recruit players that Bama, Florida, and USC want, and that we're better off recruiting against Vandy, Ole Miss, and Boise St.

The Dooley era can't end soon enough.

What players have we "stopped" recruiting?
We went against USC and won with our latest WR commit.

There was no racism behind it. I probably could have used a better name, but it was just a title to distinguish busts that just couldn't play ball like Chris Donald, and those that were kicked out of school/off the team like Janzen, J. Jenkins, Crowell, etc.

Nothing racist about calling it like you see it. If a player acts like a thug, he is a thug until proven otherwise.

Did DD really win that "battle" when USC already had 3 4* WR commits in the 2013 class and they signed a 4* and a 5* WR in 2012, and 2 4* and a 5* in 2011? I'd like to think DD beat out Kiffin but I have to think that this wasn't much of a loss to CLK given the numbers and his staff's recruiting track record.

If you don't think that Kiffin wanted him, you are crazy. Secondly, you start using a 2012 class as a reference, many sources say that UTs WR haul last class was the best in the nation.
How many 5* and 4* busts has Kiffin had the past few years? I'm willing to bet that it is a HIGHER percentage than most other BCS coaches.

Kiffin had no room for Harris. I'm sure he would have wanted him if he had 25 slots, but not in 2013.

The college game is different than the NFL. Just because Tarvaris Jackson starts in the NFL don't mean he was a better college QB than Tim Tebow or Charlie Ward.

When you sign more of those higher rated prospects you're liable to have more busts. It's the law of averages. Are you suggesting that the Vols should never sign a 5* prospect because only 12 out of 25 5* prospects make it to the NFL each year?

No, I'm saying that Kiffin has a high percentage of busts.
