I just pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition. Anyone else plan on getting it? Looks awesome!

Still dissapointed that they decided to go this route instead of making KOTOR 3.

I really wanted a KOTOR 3 as well.

I just hope this game's subscription fees are reasonable. Hopefully no more that $20/month.

Sandbox is a term I understand...themepark not so much

You're on rails. Themepark is the industry mmo standard at this point due to WoW. A theme park is the opposite concept of a sandbox. They hold your hand for the game and you have more limited abs defined choices on how you play the game.

Thanks Bass. The rails analogy works well.

Boo for Themepark!

WoW wasn't a sandbox MMO? I only ever played Everquest and then FFwhatever... FFXI I think?

And each for only a couple months before I grew tired of the repetitiveness. So MMORPGSs no longer allow you to explore the world at random and do whatever you please? That sounds lame.

Or maybe I'm just not fully understanding the "theme park" genre.

No, WoW wasn't a sandbox. You're just not understanding it. Ultima Online, SWG (pre-cu and pre-NGE), Eve, shadowbane, etc. are example of sandboxes.

Even everquest - while very open - wasn't a sandbox - but I wouldn't call it a theme park.

You can explore the world at random and do whatever you please.. but let's say in WoW - first of all - it's a level based system.. 1 to 85.. rather than a skill based system. That's always a big criteria for a lot of people to make something a sandbox. Also, a lot of people think a class system can hamper the sandbox feel - but that is more debatable. In theme parks - there is pretty limited choices on how you play the game.. and it usually involves killing stuff and questing till level cap.. then either pvping or raiding at cap.

Bassmanbruno has this right. The zones in WoW are equivilant to the planets in SW:TOR. They're locked based on not only level but also faction. TOR looks to be more open than WoW in other ways but it's still restrictive. I can understand that... it's easier for a large audience to get into a game where you're guided. EVE just absolutely blasted most that tried it in the face with difficulty and it only got worse as you went along.

Still looks to be a good game. Doubt it "dethrones" WoW because only Blizzard can truly do that but I think TOR and WoW will share a huge majority of the US market.
