why is it that santos is rated #10 at his position and is rated a 3* but crawley is 23rd at his position and is a 4*?

Because Keith N. and the Rivals gang touch themselves at night.

There's more quality corners than there are quality inside linebackers....Santos is also pretty underrated by rivals. He'll end a 4*.

I agree with the OP...we should drop and cut all current and future 3star recruits or less from our list..but then again, we can't all recruit as well as Vandy.

Yeah I understand that. I was trying to figure out Rivals reasoning for the desparity in rankings.

It's in Santos's thread I believe. A rivals analyst basically said he thinks Santos is too fat. But don't listen to that moron, Santos is a stud and is going to be a monster MLB for UT.

ESPN has us with 6 4* while rivals only has us with 2. That's exactly why I trust our coaches evaluations more than any website. It's about perception and opinion.

I think what you are asking is why there are so many CB's that get a 4 star ranking as opposed to other positions like ILB - if that is right I think it is b/c fewer players at 18 are athletically ready to play some positions (like ILB) so there will not be as many that will be there at a high level than some other positions that don't require as much muscle/size (like CB)

so coming out of high school you will usually see more 4 star WR, CB, RB, etc than you will see OT, DT, ILB

I pretty much go by rivals, but espn, as well as 24/7 have gotten much better. I trust our coaches as well, and go by that above all else.

Unless you have former coaches or former players evaluating these prospects i just wouldn't value a desk jockey's opinion very much. They could be some homer that tends to like certain teams. That's why it's better to put your faith in your coach, they're getting paid to make those decisions you're not.

Lol. Just goes to show that anyone can do the job they do. Anyone who watches football and knows the game decently well could probably do better than them, in some instances. This is in regards to evaluations of players of course.

Probably because Rivals evaluation period is from Jun to Feb......positions ranked and updated monthly. Not sure when ESPN evaluation were done but there is plenty of HS football to be played so there will be plenty of changes. With so many player committing early I believe you have to trust the HC has made a good evaluation.
