It was great to see his name scrolling across the bottom of the screen on the ticker yesterday. Apparently, he is still the career receiving touchdown record holder for the New England Patriots at 68. Gronk will likely pass him soon, or maybe next year, but it was cool to see one of my all time favorite VFLs name there. He was one of my favorite players growing up. He returned a punt for a touchdown to beat Tulsa in the first game I saw live in Neyland. GBO!!

Maybe his wife put him in a bad mood the day I tried to say hi to him at a Tennessee/Memphis game at the Liberty Bowl Stadium. Wouldn't even acknowledge I was standing there talking to him.

Maybe he couldn't understand you because of the hum of your Rascal....

I remember when he played in the NFL. Frank Gifford always refered to him as "Speed Personified" Oh Yeah, he was really fast at UT also.

Does anyone remember who was the fastest, S. Morgan or Bobby Hayes who plalyed for the Cowboys? He was another speed demon.

I think Bob Hayes was faster. He was a world-class sprinter and won the gold medal in the 1964 Olympics in the 100 m.

I thought Hayes was faster but my wife informed me numerous times that I am usually wrong about most things. Thanks for making me right at least once.

Your wife is full of it, the fact you are a man makes you right.

(Please don't tell my wife I said that)

Bullet Bob Hayes was called the "World's Fastest Human" because of winning the Olympic Gold Medal. He was also considered the fastest man in the NFL.

Stanley and Mickey Marvin were two of the few football players who came over to the Presidential Complex courtyard to hang out. Both were always cordial. Stanley was a heavy participant in the "jungle volleyball" games. Competitive but always fun.
