Our new running back coach from the Gators, Stan Drayton, is he a monster recruiting tool like Trooper Taylor was? He is supposedly a force in areas like Georgia, Miami, and Louisiana like Trooper was. Let's hope he connects with the recruits like Trooper did, those are hard shoes to fill. Just asking for some input on his ability to get the big time recruit like Trooper. Fill me in.

Well...it looks like he is off to a great start as he has some good relationships with highly rated prospects. The real question is can he close the deal with them? We shall see...

On a side note, how does Ohio State already have a ridiculous recruiting class for '09?

I def saw alot of "quick play-making backs"...he sure brought in the linemen though...I don't doubt he isn't a good coach but i wouldn't call him a monster recruiting tool yet...

He definitely has potential. Based on Rivals info he brought in more recruits in 2007 and 2006 than Trooper Taylor.

2007
Taylor - one 5*, four 4*, one 3*
Drayton - two 5*, five 4*, two 3*

2006
Taylor - three 3*
Drayton - seven 4*

Drayton's recruiting style involves far fewer chest-bumps than the tactics used by Trooper Taylor.

This will greatly reduce the risk of any sternum injuries or cardiac arrests with incoming recruits. That alone is a big point in Stan's favor.

We know hes a pretty good recruiter already. What I want to know is he going to be a good RB coach.

Minus the USC and Michigan game this year, the schedule sets them up for the National Championship game every year.

Minus the Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Alabama games, Tennessee's schedule actually shapes up quite nicely for a national championship game this year.

I wouldn't worry to much about ohio states recruiting class. It never seems to help them when they play SEC teams. Their schedule is weak every year and it shows up when they play decent or above average teams.

As far as recruiting goes, Im sure hes a very capable recruiter, but recruiting for UT is a bit different than recruiting for UF. Not saying we're not a top caliber team, but we dont have the in-state talent that a TX or FL school does. Just saying he wont be able to cherry pick here like he could at UF.

This is a very good point. I am sure Stan will be a good recruiter at UT, but yes it will be different with less in state talent to choose from.

Won't that mean that our players have severely weakened breastplates due to the lack of repeated chest-bumps? I wonder if it's easier to tackle someone when their helmet is lodged in your chest?
