Staff turnover for next year

Martinez and Mahony along with the S&C coach. Maybe Thig. Jones has to make some changes or the new AD will.

Could any of our Defense/Shoop struggles related to him inheriting his entire staff? If so, he might be given the option to make changes. I really like Stripling but then this year happened!!

Jones will be here
If Debord goes the CZA gets the gig
Shoop will be here he got it done against Fl.
Mahoney needs to go
Martinez needs to go
SC coach couldn't get out quick enough
Strippling stays

Thinking DeBord and Mahoney both go as well as S&C. Too much vanilla offense this season and an O-Line has regressed. Injuries...there were less injuries on the Titanic than on this team.

I think so. JMO. Playcalling hasn't been as bad as many make it out to be. Bama game is only exception. Way too conservative, but they were coming for blood that day. Not sure we could have done much about it regardless.

In Bama game DeBord was just trying to call plays to keep Dobbs alive with a make shift oline.

I would like to see a handful of changes...
First I think its time we get a new O line coach, mahoney just hasnt developed our O line at all... Secondly I think we need to do something with S/C due to the crazy amount of injuries. I'm not a believer in Debord, however not sure if CBJ will make that change.

I would love to see us at least attempt to get Charlie Strong, not necessarily as DC I think Shoop gets another year and will have a big bounce back year. But hire strong as some kind of defensive adviser/recruiter role.

What I would like to happen:
-hire a full time QB coach
-DeBord out
-Azzanni out
-Martinez out
-Mahoney out
-new S&C coach

What will probably happen:
-No changes

DeBord goes...time to make a big hire here with fast paced big time spread offensive X/O experience....if he wasn't done he'd already have an extension by now.
Mahoney is done.
Martinez can't coach a DB to turn his head at least one time during a game....just one little turn :eek:lol: so he is done.
And the S&C coach should start packing his box of crap up with them.
Thig stays...one of our best recruiters and his coaching turned a walk on into one hell of a player despite his lack of athletic ability.

Linebacker coach, secondary coach, offensive line coach, and the strength and conditioning coach.

The OC may retire but if he stays they certainly need to hire a real QB coach instead of letting a grad assistant handle it.

I think the DC needs to do more, and coach the linebackers or defensive backs as that would help with the apparent disconnect with the defense.

Additionally, the tackling must improve dramatically, it has been horrible all season starting with the Appalachian State game. Unfortunately, the blocking on offense hasn't been much better than the tackling.

What I would like to see:
Mahoney : Out
Martinez : Out
SC Guy: Out
Azzani: Out. Should have been out long ago.

DeBord: I am not sure. We put on good numbers on a lot of teams. His offense started slow in a lot of games but once it got going it got really good. I would be happy if they brought in big name guy to replace him but else I can live with him.

Shoop: He is having a Sunseri type year. Even with injuries we have better talent than Fat Sal had that year with 3-4 scheme fiasco. I would love to give Shoop one more year to see what can he bring to the table.

1st hope is a proven offensive coordinator similar in principles due to players we've recruited that fit.
- True QB Coach ***
- Oline coach
- DB Coach (Shoop could take more control did well with vandys a few years back)
- S/C Coach

I see the linebacker coach thing keeps getting mentioned, I think Thig has done well with reeves maybin, and DKjr, and young guys like mcdowell and sapp. I just think injuries have hurt us. Plus this guy is possibly our best recruiter on staff.

They like to argue he's not a very good WR coach
He's not getting the boot though because he's the replacement for Debord IMO.

and no I wouldn't agree with him getting the job

He shouldn't get the boot. When Dobbs can actually pass, our receivers actuality do their job.

Shoop needs much more freedom to run the same defense that he ran at Vandy.

I believe you're right. Did we even have a single starter playing o line that game?

My ideal scenario (unlikely pipedream)

OC/QB - Kendall Briles Baylor, (Changes coming there, he will likely be looking for a job)

DB - Terry Fair (Bring back the VFL and give him the reigns. He's done well FT at CSU.

OL - Randy Clements Baylor, familiarity with Briles system and has sent players to pros.

S/C - Aaron Ausmus currently USC, born here, ran track at UT. coached here as well.

Does anybody else think that we should let the same coach coach the WR/TE positions together? That would free up a spot for a QB coach. Let the TE's run receiving drills with the WR coach and then work some blocking reps with the oline.
