Bo Davis is going to Ole MissI know we are currently down 2 and possibly looking at 1 or 2 other changes. I have done some research on Jeremy Pruitt and he is not the type of person who takes recommendations instead of first hand knowledge, which is evident by Brumbaugh.
I see a few potential replacements:
Rob Sale - OL coach [currently at ULL]
Brent Key - OL coach [currently at alma mater at GT]
Jody Wright- Asst. OL NFL
Mike Groh - WR/QB NFL
Tosh Lupoi - DL coach [kind of limbo]
Lance Thompson- DL coach
Bo Davis - DL coach
Anyone have recommendations for new positions with CJP as the head coach? I think Sale and Lupoi would be homeruns.
Sure there are diamond in the rough type coaches that would be glad to come here. Unfortunately they would have to coach a lot of diamond in the rough type players.
You can count the 5 star players we have on three fingers. That’s right we have signed three 5 stars (2017-2020). That is at the root of the problem. We don’t get the 5 stars and don’t even get the pick of the liter 4 stars.
Can’t solve the problem with another change in coaching staffs. We have to allow someone 4-6 years to solve the recruiting problem. Every time we change head coaches, we start back at year 1, leaving us 4-6 years away from getting where we need to be in recruiting.
I am one that will support this staff or a new staff if we start all over. The difference between myself and most is realizing we are at year 1 again in a 4-6 year process if we do change. There is no one that can come in here and have us competing at an Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, A&M, ND, FL level in less than 5 years unless Peyton Manning is on the staff.
You can’t solve the recruiting problem without winning. 5-6 years is laughable. If they continue to lose games like they have the past couple of years, the recruiting is just going to get worse, not better.
Recruits want see players perform at a high level, and they want to see guys at the school make it to the league. There are a bunch of 3-4 star guys playing in the NFL right now because they were well coached in college.
It’s simple, given the talent currently on the team, they should be much better. Maybe not beating the best teams regularly, but this group of players, right now, if well coached, should be able to stay in ball games and with a break or two their way, beat anybody. And the certainly shouldn’t be losing to Arkansas and Kentucky.
