Staff changes....

No one wants to work for a lame duck coach unless the contract warrants it & money isn't that plentiful anymore. China Virus assured that. Current coaches will have to coach a couple of positions.

They need to scour the smaller schools and look for some innovative, energetic young coaches, even assistant coaches. Those guys would give anything for an opportunity to come to the SEC and work with the 4 and 5* talented guys we've got here. Even in Pruitt gets canned they can use this opportunity as a launching pad for their career. Is there anyone like that at say Tenn Tech, Austin Peay or Western KY?

I don't know how a program looks at a guy like Will Friend with stud linemen like Cade Mays and Trey Smith and others to work with...and look at how gawd awful that line was most of the time and say "we need to get THAT guy."

It’s South Carolina we are talking about

People on here calling men that have achieved more than they could ever achieve losers is the epitome of loser but here they are hiding behind a keyboard. How about just saying you want a change without the simpleton posts? I know it’s a little too much to grasp.

Change is pretty much what the majority has asked for. One can be successful in business and yet be an idiot when it comes to decision making in a big time athletic program or putting their egos aside for the good of that program. Be careful not to lump that majority in with a handful of idiot posters.

Think a lot is going to depend on the coordinator positions. I can’t imagine Ansley and Chaney both agreeing to come back without a big say in who fills out these positions. I really think Pruitt has to keep both coordinators in order to have any chance at surviving this.

Don’t think the 2 of them have many options. Chaney makes more money than he would get anywhere else. Ansley has a mediocre record as a DC in what limited time he’s held the position. The 3 million owed to our 2 coordinators is part of the albatross keeping us from firing Pruitt. I wish to God Ansley would quit.

His upward career arc has been shorted in Knoxville. Too much too soon and micromanagement type of thing.

I know we are currently down 2 and possibly looking at 1 or 2 other changes. I have done some research on Jeremy Pruitt and he is not the type of person who takes recommendations instead of first hand knowledge, which is evident by Brumbaugh.

I see a few potential replacements:

Rob Sale - OL coach [currently at ULL]
Brent Key - OL coach [currently at alma mater at GT]
Jody Wright- Asst. OL NFL
Mike Groh - WR/QB NFL
Tosh Lupoi - DL coach [kind of limbo]
Lance Thompson- DL coach
Bo Davis - DL coach

Anyone have recommendations for new positions with CJP as the head coach? I think Sale and Lupoi would be homeruns.

Think all these guys will have better options on the table than the Vols.

Probably need to dig deep in Google and look at guys who have crossed paths with Pruitt for candidates.

Or his wedding guest list.

I think Ansley’s DC prospects have been hurt by his time here but he could easily land a position job almost anywhere if he just wants to get out. Chaney would certainly get another OC job if he wanted it. He’s had too much success as an OC. A lot just depends on their outlook on the situation. Do they believe things can be turned around; or do they feel like rats on a sinking ship?

A staff change must start with firing Pruitt and hiring someone who can get a good staff and then let them do their job. That is not Pruitt.
I disagree, I think a shift in thinking could very well happen and Pruitt be successful. Our guys are well coached on fundamentals IMO outside of a few positions, glaringly at the qb and OL... if we solidify those areas we win or are closer in games.

If they announce a d-line or o-line coach that’ll be the nail in the coffin of our hopes. You’re not going to allow Pruitt to hire new guys if you’re firing him soon

I’d take Lance Thompson back in Knoxville. Has baggage but can recruit with the best

Probably should look at staff at Rainesville High School. At least they will understand what Pruitt is saying.

We need to hire an elite recruiter to coach dbs and make a spot for him by moving Chaney to QBs

Rodney Garner DL at Auburn, Coached at UT in the 90s and is absolutely, without question the best recruiter in Tenns history and prob one of the top 2 or 3 recruiters in the SEC.
