Staff changes need to happen

I do wonder if Heupel needs to go the Ryan Day route and get a coordinator with big time head coaching experience while keeping heavy hand on playcalling on offense.

Ryan Day getting Chip Kelly was a very big reason they were successful in the playoff.

I personally think Heupel has a solid offensive staff in place. I wish Hazle had more big time experience, but I think Heupel needs to really find that senior / experienced addition to the defensive staff.

People are going to say I’m overreacting and all we had to do was make a field goal. However we should’ve won by 3 possessions today, but couldn’t get off of the field in critical times because we have guys on the field that shouldn’t be out there. Which was understandable early on under this staff, but we’re in year 5 and this staff has had 3 full recruiting cycles to get their roster constructed, and the defensive side of the ball looks just like it did in year 2. I know we had some injuries, but we should be at the point now where we don’t get blown off the line of scrimmage or have DBs don’t even get their hands up when the ball is in the air. I know Jermod McCoy is a first round pick, but it’s not like we’re missing 2 day 1 or 2 NFL picks on our DL. We never landed a true successor for Omari Thomas, and contrary to popular belief you still have to have a space eater in the middle that can draw and even get through double teams. We’ve also yet to land a HS corner outside of Rickey Gibson that can play with the ball in the air. Conyer and Goree were never SEC corners, Jordan Matthews was a bust or under developed, and Kaleb Beasley is playing safety. With the sample size we’ve had so far it’s not a stretch of the imagination at all that Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood are as good as they are because of the development they got at their previous schools. If we don’t start landing DTs and corners that are the same caliber as the DEs and LBs we’re recruiting we’re never going to take that next step. Heupel can’t just be another Dan Mullen who is a great offensive mind, but an above average staff builder and recruiter
I'm sure they are developed just fine, if they stay here long enough. The problem from yesterday was depth at DT. Even without any injuries depth should have been addressed in the portal before spring, and it wasn't. Signing a guy from Grand Valley State doesn't count. So now we have a starter who is playing out of position in Dom Bailey and a converted DB-LB as one of the first subs in the game is Wallace, who really doesn't know how to play DT yet. How can Isaiah Campbell be worse than Wallace? He didn't get one snap.

We need a GM.

And we should give someone else a try at kicker.

Ok, so you’re picking and choosing. And also, I don’t know if you have any experience with football, but missing bodies at DL hurts period. If we had Moi or Hobbs that makes a difference
But doesn't this go both ways? GA was playing two true FR on the OL (RG & RT) due to injuries. The main reason Herring was able to get TFLs was he was unblocked on multiple occasions due to the FR OL missed blocking assignments. GA made in game adjustments to move OL around to help the FR out. With the GAs OL injuries & inexperienced players, I would have thought our DL would have held up better against the run but GA ran for ~200 yds. If TN has to have the best talent on the field to win tough games then we will never win a championship again. We simply can pay enough to get the best talent so coaching schemes have to provide the edge.

Historically and statistically coaches changes DONT work in our favor the majority of the time. You're over reacting.

I’m not overreacting. Our interior DL recruiting has been piss poor under this staff, and it’s catching up on us now that we don’t have 5th and 6th year seniors playing. And none of our DBs that didn’t play for another staff can play with the ball in the air. I’m not saying clean house, but changes need to be made
You're overreacting. Just because there is a loss doesn't mean there needs to be a change. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you win. If you made a call for change after every loss... well that is what we like to call "instability." We made the playoffs last year. We are playing GA the closest we ever have since the Richt era. We are beating Bama on a regular basis. Whatever Heupel wants to do, we ride it out until he is 100% no longer the guy. You don't cut the arm off of a captain and demand him to loyally steer the ship. If Heupel wants Martinez we keep him.

Agree.

So you think we’ve done a good job at recruiting interior DL? Nathan Robinson, Carson Gentle, and Jamal Wallace is good enough for you? Because it’s not for me and it sure as hell wasn’t good enough for today
I suppose it's a good thing Heupel doesn't need your affirmation

Jaxson Moi and Hobbs aren’t would I would consider “key” players. Key players are guys that are difference makers the opposing team has to build their gameplan around. They’re quality college starters that could get drafted late or get picked up as a UDFA. If we were missing a a couple of guys that would be getting drafted early next April it would be another story. Of course the edge rushers played well for us. We’ve recruited at an elite level at those positions and typically land 2 4-5 stars a year. At DT though we’ve signed a bunch of 3 stars, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing since 3 stars can become first rounders too. The problem is the 3 stars we’ve landed showed today they’re not cut out for SEC football

If you would bother to read the box score you would see the game was as close as the score indicated. UGA ran for 3.7 per carry UT ran 3.6. UGA threw for 13 yd per catch, UT threw for 15 yd per catch. Both had 3 punts and 2 turnovers. Total yards UGA 502 UT 496. Both converted 3rd downs at about a 50% clip. Biggest difference was UGA 2-2 on 4th downs. TOP has always been irrelevant when talking about UT, they aren't ever going to win that and CJH doesn't worry about it. Thomas avg 6.7 with long of 27. Frazier avg 5.2 with long of 21. UGA ran the ball 20 times more then UT.

Whats hilarious to me is after the Syracuse game, the fahr Banks crowd said "we should not be running zone, just man up we're much better in man". We'll guess what, he ran almost exclusively man defense against Georgia guys. Now I will say, I dont think leaving a freshman corner on an island is smart vs a team like GA that has athletes....but hey he did what YALL wanted!

Stockton looked better and more comfortable against us and ND than he did vs Marshall and AP. Why? because both ND and Tenn. played almost exclusively man defense. It's easy to see where he wants to go with the football vs Man defense. You have to have the athletes at CB to play man coverage, obviously Banks trusted our freshman, but hes just not quite got the experience yet to be left on an island vs a team of this caliber.

Now one more thing that did piss me off during the game was we knew that GA was wanting to use a variety of WR screens to get Stockton some easy completions...in this game Banks would brings blitzes and have the CBs 8 yards off for GA to hit easy screen passes right over our blitz.

Banks also takes too long to adjust on defense. When GA was going jumbo package we stayed in a light box, and that's why they were running it down our throat...when we finally adjusted much later we were able to stop the run.

Anyways I'm getting deeper into this than I intended, my main point is Banks did what yall wanted and you're still mad at him because we didn't have the athletes to match up and do what yall thought was best. So you're mad at him but you really dont understand why you're mad at him. Football isnt easy guy, I know a lot of you have never played or coached, but there is a reason they say its a chess match. It truly is, there is no defense that can stop every single offensive play call. You have to understand tendencies of the offense and adjust properly to put your players in the best possible position to defend what you think they're most likely attacking you with.

I'm not in the "fire Banks" group at this moment. He's got to pick it up in recruiting and getting deeper in the secondary for us to match up the way he wants to matchup against top tier teams, and hes got to learn to make adjustments faster....but hes not "terrible" like yall want to claim.

Calm down.. We just lost to a top 5 team by 3 points. The sky is not falling.

Should have won by 3 possessions against UGA?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Since the start of 2017, UGA has lost by 17 points or more only 5 times. Get out of here dude.

All I had to do was read the title and first sentence to tell you that you are the Tom Brady of over reacting.
