Staff changes need to happen

I think it depends on if you want to grow the program into the national championship caliber or not. Josh is by far the best coach we've had post-Fulmer, but this current staff has a couple of weak spots that will keep it from being elite.
Name the elite coaching staffs out there. Currently Kirby and finally Day. Heupel just needs to make the playoffs and get hot like OSU did. Remember, it's going to be harder to win a natty from now on.

I wonder if coach Garner knows this?
So you think we’ve done a good job at recruiting interior DL? Nathan Robinson, Carson Gentle, and Jamal Wallace is good enough for you? Because it’s not for me and it sure as hell wasn’t good enough for today

No, I completely understand that. However we got absolutely manhandled up front today. We also got gashed consistently by Syracuse. There shouldn’t be that big of a drop off 5 years into a staff’s run. If we recruited better on the interior we wouldn’t feel as big of a hit when a DT went down. As far as corner goes we’re still seeing the same problems we did in 22. The coverage is good, but they can’t play the ball when it’s in the air. When you have the same issues year after year after year in a position room it means the position coach isn’t cutting it
If you’re surprised Tennessee had trouble on the LOS today, that’s on you. Maybe you should do some research & see Tennessee had 2 of their 3 top DTs out.

Thank you! Finally someone else gets it, and realizes that just being better than we were during our worst run in program history isn’t good enough

I have no power to recruit better. What i think is insignificant.

Call coach Garner. Schedule a meet up. Let us know how it goes.

Tenn is smoking 95% of the country today. Kirby is one of the best coaches ever. He had 25 more 5 and 4*s. Georgia constantly wills their way to victory (ask Texas). Let's let the season play out.
This is where I am right now. UT should have won but didn’t. Tip your cap to the other team and move on. Our interior DL needs Hobbs and Moi back ASAP and our tackling on defense needs to improve big time . There were some positives on defense with pressures and sacks that we haven’t seen against UGA in a long time. The offense was probably about the best we could have hoped for against a talented defensive team in the bulldogs. I truly believe we can go on to have a very good season.

Garner has put a load of guys in the NFL.

He didn’t just magically forget how to coach.

Take your stupidity somewhere else.

I wasn’t surprised about it at all. That’s the problem, we shouldn’t be using health as an excuse for poor performance the 3rd game in the year. We’re one of the most winningest programs in the country since Heupel has taken over, we need to start recruiting like it at certain positions we haven’t been doing that in. Georgia also had starters out on their OL today too, and their backups got the job done. I know Kirby has had a lot more time to build his program, but we’ve put way too much emphasis on landing 3-4 OLBs and 3 tech bodies and not enough emphasis on finding a replacement for Omari Thomas. Which was the heart and soul of our DL for their first 4 years

Is our goal to be better than 95% of the country or win championships? I want to win championships

Never said he forgot how to coach, just that he’s neglected the interior of our DL when it comes to HS recruiting, you can spin it however you want, but the film and depth chart numbers don’t lie. We haven’t landed a true DT out of HS that’s a blue chipper

It looks that way when key players are missing in the middle. Take away two starting DTs off any roster and see how it impacts your defense. I thought the edge rushers played well today.

If our kicker makes a kick he normally makes none of the million dumb threads happen… last time I checked UGA has coaches that get paid too… they made plays and so did we it was a classic dog fight we just happen to come out on the wrong side of… part of the game but to make any staff changes would be silly and we were short handed and made enough plays on defense to win it in regulation held to a fg 3 tough times and needed one of the most perfect balls from Gunnar to tie it… we will be okay just breath it’s a long season..

Herring did very well, I think.

I think the staff did a good job landing Ethan Utley and Isaiah Campbell in the 2025 class. Both of those guys were highly rated coming out of HS. Problem is that they are freshmen.

Banks is terrible.
You’re clearly overreacting along with the OP

Banks is one of the best defensive coordinators in the entire college football. His play Colin was pretty solid for most of the game although I do wish he would’ve pressured Stockton a little bit more

I was asking for Martinez to be fired when Heupel was hired, and I don’t love Banks, but the biggest coaching issue today was Heupel’s in game decision making. Firing him would be dumb, but he’s the coach who needs to wear this loss.
