I know th epolicy says no video cameras, but curious if anyone has seen people using the little hand held camcorders. I want to film the Vol Walk and the band and dont want to have to go back to car to drop off camera and would love to film the run thru the T at start of game, what do yall think??

I have been a couple times before and they dont seem to check bags too closely, just getting some opinions..

I do know that you can easily get by with a digital camera that also films (or at least I did at the Cal game). Handheld camcorders are probably prohibited, but like you say, you could probably get by with it. I guess it is up to you there.

i know i've been smuggling in fifths of liquior to games for better than 10 years, and those bottles are much bigger than some of the new cam corders....should not be a problem.

Like everyone has said. You're not supposed to have them. But it is rather easy to smuggle one in. The smalle the better. My digital camera can record small 2-3 minute clips as well as take still photos. I put it in my pocket and walked in.

If it will fit in your pocket, you're good. :good!:

How big is the camcorder? I've taken a DVD video camera in there a few times and never had any problems. It's pretty small though, you can definitely palm it. I didn't take in it's bag to draw attention to it, I just carried it with the strap over my shoulder. If able, just do that and put it behind you as you walk in.

Yeh, its one of the small palm sized mini-dv recorders, i was just curious about the green shirted staff, if they will say anything when they see me filming..or if they really care at that point...

This may be a game to preserve on tape for history!!! Just kidding only plan to record the running T and final scoreboard T-28 F-24 !!!!!

I have never had any problems with the ushers once I got in there. Worst comes to worst, they'll just ask you to turn it off, but I don't think it will happen.

Doesn't matter where your seats are, go in through Gate 21 there are so many people coming through there they don't check them all. You still run the risk of getting caught with it though and they will either confiscate(sp) it or you will have to take it back to your car. Good luck and GO VOLS!!!

i've got a fifth in before too. stick it in you back waist line and cover it by tying a jacket around your waist. walk through the gate like you own the place.

the ushers are usually watching the game too.

At gate 11 for the Cal game you could have gotten thru with anything. At the AF game, they were frisking almost everyone who came thru.

So, regular camera's are ok but they don't allow video camera's? Is that right?

Exactly the same for me... maybe something hapened at the CAL Game:dunno:

They searched my camera bag and small TV (to watch Ohio state/Texas) and searched my wife's purse at the Air Force game.

Yes, that's right.

I will say that I have had a few issues with "big lens" cameras over the years. The problem is, the old people working the gates want to be policemen and women and think they can say what can and can't come in. The problem for them is, no where on the ticket, does it say you can't have a zoom lens on your camera. I had to point this out to one of them last year when they told me that "it was on the ticket".
