JH,

Dale Jones and Bill Bates are very different in their qualifications for a job here IMO. Bates in no way has paid his dues by building an experienced resume and therefore doesn't even deserve consideration but Jones is just the opposite. He has the experience by paying his dues and if he was hired it wouldn't be a big stretch for him.

With that being said hire Brewster yesterday if he wants the job.

Yeah, I know. But he as good a TEs coach as there is in the game. He's coached STs for many years and more importantly, he is a hell of a recruiter. He landed VY at Texas.

Didn't realize Dale Jones was coaching. He'd be a great hire imo.

Yeah, I talked to a guy Tuesday mid-afternoon. He thought that James Shibest was going to be our man. He told me all the Ole Miss background stuff. Then I just found out last night that Shibest signed up from Memphis on Tuesday night. So that was just a total whiff.

I have no idea how the name Tim Brewster popped into my brain. I don't think he is even in the running. The guy from UCF is named Tim something.

I am just going to shut up and go away now. Sorry 'bout that.

LWSVOL stated that Brewster would take the job. Not sure if he had heard that or giving his opinion but that is how his name came up.

I wouldnt mind seeing Dooley head up ST and TE and hiring a notable DL Coach. Dooley's dad is known for their special teams packages. Dooley coached TE for the Dolphins while was there

LWS, I'm a little concerned about Brewster. Wasn't there a faction of the boosters that wanted Brewster here as HC? I don't recall whether it was pre-Kiffin or pre-Dooley, but it seems like that was making the rounds at some point.

I've also seen/heard Greg Adkins mentioned, which would require some shuffling of duties I guess. His family never moved to Syracuse, they remain in Knoxville.

Are there two groups here, pushing for one or the other?

How about Ron Zook as Special Teams Coach. He is a really bad head coach, but he has been a great Assistant coach. He has been a special teams coach in college and the NFL. He is also a great recruiter. I do not know if he wants to coach again. He might just live off his buyout from ILL. But if he is interested, he would be worth a look see.

Whenever I hear "Zook" I also hear "Jack Sells". Never been able to get past it.
