The desperation of that field goal attempt. Can't imagine what their fans were thinking going into their OT, knowing they had been passing all over our D, and holding us to a field goal. Watching their QB get sacked on 1st down, then 2nd down, then run for his life on 3rd down. A pass on 4th down would have been a sack or a pick, so this was his only choice. He knew on 4th down there was no way to win. Only question was will he accept defeat and go out with dignity or try some 12 lateral play that would let Maggitt and Barnett probably blind side someone. Good choice Steve

LOL.......when the OBC can send a fan base over the top with a silly comment that is exactly what he is going to do. He is after the attention and he is good at it.

I think he's trying to brush off the fact Butch has a 2 game WINNING streak on him, and will be extended to 3 this year... after which many more cartwheels will be seen at Neyland.

Karma is coming around, Ol Spurrier getting his arse handed to him every year but still willing to try to throw the jabs. Kinda like a old Ali, people will listen and just snicker. UT is going to send him away to the gold course in the near future. Thanks for the good bulletin board material, your pysch crap won't do you any good this isn't the 90's. Get ready ol man!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

I won't deny Spurrier somewhat took a a weak shot at us. What he said is absolutely 100% the truth though. After 3 straight years of 11 wins, obviously only winning 7 wasn't a great year for them. It was a huge let down. He didn't say we considered 7 wins a great season either. He simply said we were doing cartwheels over it, which is the truth.

After 4 straight losing seasons, and 5 out of the last 6 years with below a .500 record, I know I was personally ecstatic over it. I'm sure the overwhelming amount of UT fans were too. It was just nice to finish the season with a bowl victory and winning season. Last year we finished right where the majority of reasonable Vol fans predicted we would.

Also he can't talk much smack. He is on a 2 game losing streak against the Vols, and 0-2 vs. Butch Jones after all. GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!:rock:

That's a team UT could smoke. I hope we beat him into retirement. He could co host with granny clampett and talk about the good ole days

The ole ball sack takes pot shots at every team in the SEC, we only hear the ones directed at us.
He already knows that his winning days against Tennessee are over but he secretly loves us.

Would love to see 100,000 visors thrown at the Ol' Ball Coach at Neyland this year when we ROAST THEM 'COCKS

And we barely lost to GA twice and Fl. once so your argument is somewhat shallow. BJ is by far the best recruiting head coach ever at Tennessee including PF. This while taking the program from the dumpster, no one could have recruited better.
By far is a stretch.

I think Steveishness is what's missing from NCAA football....having fun with it and he's not mean spirited at all....been seeing and hearing Steve for a long time now...it'll be a sad day when he finally hangs it up...I have a lot of respect for what he did at Florida back in the day....step on the field with him and he'd light you up....OBC being the OBC....dwindling down now...sad...

One has nothing to do with the other. We didn't win those games so it's a moot point. The poster said had Butch not pulled off those 2 wins vs SCar that "ish" would have gotten ugly which I believe is true. Butch would be 9-15 right now and getting considerable heat to get it turned around this year or else. Fortunately, that's not reality....just like the "near wins" you referenced.

If and buts. The fact us Butch did not lose those 2 games to SOS so that is also a moot point.

Nothing new from the OBC. Let's expect him to keep it up even past his coaching days. His winning teams all had resourceful QBs with excellent intuition. He had speed on the edges and down field and tremendously talented personnel on those teams' defenses...led by superb coaching staffs. He's weak in all those areas, now. Recruiting's rough for the chickens with UT and UGA pulling some of the fellas he previously would've drawn into Columbia. The state of Florida's got all three programs pulling in more of those boys (well, the gay duhs need a couple more years to catch back up) and Dabo's reeling them in up at Clemson. You can bet the farm that ol' Steve's talking smack about all those programs, as well. That short glory run is over for USCe. Good.
