Spurrier? Just a rumor!!!

I still like the idea of bringing in Spurrier and letting his son learn the ropes and take over for him when he's ready to retire

At this point in Spurrier's coaching career I would think of him as, at best, little more than a lateral move. This guy has done very, very little since leaving FL. His teams have dropped two straight to Vandy for God's sake. If you think he'd be an improvement over Fulmer, fine, but I think we really wouldn't have to try all that hard to do better than Spurrier either.

Spurrier doesn't get the recruits at USCe that He can get at UF or UT...Big difference there

Spurrier has the killer instinct we have been sorely lacking for a number of years. I would gladly welcome him.

Spurrier has lost his drive a year or two before he left UF. Although he would be an upgrade he is not the best we could get.

I would not want Spurrier, and don't feel it would be much improvement over what we have now.

i personaly would like to see this... spurrier has more balls in decision making and would take an exciting risk before he threw the same screen pass we have seen for years and years.. hes a gambler. usc doesnt get recruits because it is usc.. ever been to columbia? enough said. plus it would be the perfect spot for spurrier to groom his son for a takeover. granted alot of people think spurrier was over rated, but you never had to worry about him possibly loosing a game to a near 1 aa team.

I think Spurrier's washed up. He should have never left florida for the nfl, where his game didn't work.

He's 63, how many more seasons do you think he can coach?

Long enough to teach his son steve jr, to take over when he's gone. Also the Vol fans will not hate him if he gets Tennessee going again. Come on guys really how sweat would it be for spurrier to run the points up on urben at florida in an ORANGE visor!

i like this idea. especially if his son comes along to take over once steve retires. s-car just doesn't have the support for athletics like UT does (bigger donors, better facilities etc.). there really isn't a college coach in a position to leave their program to replace the great pumpkin except for spurrier.

and isnt the "game has passed him by "excuse lose the argument on him... Man the anti Fulmerites would go to any length to replace himm..even hiring as Social Security recipient

Amazing that Spurrier is still just about a scratch golfer if he keeps losing his drive off the tee.

it would be very intriguing to see what spurrier could do with the talent at ut right now. well other than the q.b. postion

It would intriguing to see what any coach that understands today's game and can change game plans on the fly can do.

I wouldn't want Spurrier here because he's an a-hole, even if he was still a good coach. I can remember all of his "jokes" and cheap shots. I wouldn't want him representing us.
