What?... how else do you compare coaches other than W and Ls. Shoe size?

that's great and all that we are a bit ahead of SC in the SEC. Unfortunately SC is not a team winning championships that we should be compared to. Can you imagine what your response would be if 10yrs ago you were told we would be competing against SC for ranking in the conf?

If Fulmer had been at USC over the last few years, he would have killed to have Spurrier's record.

Uh... maybe but that is not the point of this thread.

This thread is about one coach with a national in the mid 90s replacing another coach with one national title in the late 90s.

You can start a thread about CPF going to usc if you want and I might join in the discussion.

What I'm saying is your point of Spurrier being a downgrade because of his late record at a bad program is not a good one.

You are making my point for me. The only way to compare coaches is by a) head to head games, b) conference records, and c) total wins and losses. In these categories, Fulmer wins over Spurrier (since 05).

If every other thread is true, then the program has declined to a point that a comparison with usc would not be out of the question. Thus, we have our apples to apples.

I am not a fulmerite but I hate stupid moves more.

We need a long term solution to this mess, not a quick band-aid slapped on. Don't get me wrong, I think spurrier is a great coach, however he has to be nearing retirement, and I don't think anyone wants to relive this scenario 5 years down the road.

Spurrier could recruit and win big at UT, but he's too old to take another job. He'll retire after a bunch more losses at USC next year.

After all......Spurrier is a native Tennessean....I would welcome him w/ open arms...even as much as I've hated him in the past!!

Spurrier, at 63, is 23-18 at usc with an 11-15 SEC record. He has only won one bowl game at usc. Fulmer has accomplished more since Spurrier was hired at usc.

Some of you want to trade Fulmer for one lousy Liberty bown win? His best season at usc was 8-5... The man has never had an undefeated season in his life. Nobody has gotton more mileage from a lone national championship. This stupid crap makes me want to cuss.

I know someone who is close.

Will he come don't think so...

Would UT Admins let him come.... hell no. They couldn't swallow that much pride.

Do I think he would do well at UT... Very well and once he got the program back up a lil bit his recruiting would also increase.

Is he the best option.... I don't know...

Spurrier at UT....Wonder what the Gator nation would think about that?...You know he would do everything he could to haunt them...Might be worth looking into

Ahhh, the Evil Genius. Think of it, though. If Spurrier by some weird series of events ended up at Tennessee, we would have to learn to love the man we all love to hate. If he didn't do well, we'd have no problem riding him out of town on a rail!

how bout Spurrier as head coach and Sarah Palin as head cheerleader.

He would need Saracuda to recruit for him, better coach, absolutely, but this aint Florida. Don't think he has that kind of energy, or ever did for recruiting,
