Spurrier said on the call-in show tonight that RS-Freshman Chris Smelley will start Saturday with the intention of letting him go the distance.

It sounds like Blake Mitchell's career is quickly coming to an end. I'm sure he'll play some more this year, but it looks more and more like Spurrier is going with the younger QB since there is little difference in their ability to run the offense.

Personally, I think Blake should be the man due to his experience. Without decent pass blocking, Mitchell is a very average QB that looks shell shocked in the pocket. Smelley is a little better at running out of the pocket, but not much.

If Tennessee gets a good pass rush Saturday, it will be a very long night for the Gamecocks.

I can understand your concern there since we've had such an outstanding pass rush all year.

don't worry; whoever the QB is will be a heisman candidate before the game's over.

Either way, we have the better QB and yes, if we do get a decent pass rush, we can make either one of them look silly

Hey hat, I remember after the Alabama game that you said the issue that has divided the fan base will be addressed... What do you think are the chances that Fulmer returns next year?
Not trying to destroy another thread.

I would be surprised, not shocked, if Phllip Fulmer is the head coach at Tennessee next season.

Smelly or Mitchell are both bad--probably the worst QBs spurrier's had to work with at UF or USC. If UT can get pressure on Smelly, he'll throw it up for some INTs like he did against Vandy.

That's a damn big "if". If a frog had a .45 he wouldn't be scared of snakes.

Now where have I heard this logic before? :ermm:

I think you are just saying that because you're afraid Blake's sister might cuss you out again.

That experience can't be forgotten soon enough.

SC's line isnt exactly decent...what was it? 6 Sacks and 5 False Starts against Vandy?

Actually, it was 7 sacks and 5 false starts, but who's keeping up with it anyway?:ermm:
