Spring QB battle?

Yeah, 2004 was a mess.

2004 used a remarkably simplified offense where Randy Sanders pretty much yelled to Erik or Brent what he wanted them to do. When the offense was opened up to normal standards, it worked very, very poorly with 2 QBs.

for some reason, i'm not at all worried about the our qb position next year. i will be fully confident in whoever fulmer gives the job to. i don't ever recall feeling this confident when we have a transition period under center. am i the only one whose feeling this way?

I agree... and the reason why most feel confident is that most feel anything we get will be an improvement over what we've had.

I'll just leave it at that. I've turned the page...

Pryor also added oregon 2 his list of schools 4 those of you keeping score at home, but I am really excited about the qb situation. Everyone on campus thinks of JC as the guy, but I am not so sure about him. He was the #2 pro-style qb behind Mark Sanchez at USC in his class. Stephens has a cannon but was only a 3 star out of high school cause of injuries. Looked good n JV but it was JV. People also make out like Coleman is our savior, but I never seen him play so its hard 2 pick him but he does seem like a "Cut" guy from of the things I have read about the guy. Whoever is the starter in September I just wanna c a guy throw it down the field some.

Jerry Colquitt got a bum deal. Hurt on the first drive of his senior season. Probably one of the saddest days I can remember. Not something we should be referencing for next season.

I agree. I went to high school with Jerry in Oak Ridge. Just a horrible thing to happen to such a good guy. Hopefully this season does not turn out like that for Crompton.

Did you watch the first drive last Saturday?

The offensive has sputtered since 1994?

No it won't. He'll be a WR within 2 weeks of being on campus.

We have had a ton of good opening Scripted Drives this year....KY, SC, GA Even AL, FL was decent but settled for FGs After that it is like throw the scipt away and we are only going to throw Short Passes.... EA completed 69% that had a total gain of 9 yards or less...

Prior to the season there was alot of Anixiety about the QB situation at UT... Colquitt a veteran, Helton another local Baseball Star and two hype Freshman Manning and Stewart...Both 1 and 2 by many recruitting Services and both at UT... All 4 QBs played in that Game and Stewart played before Manning... Stewart play alot of times before Manning until the Miss State Game which was Mannings first start....

Oh well to answer your question at times we have sputtered Offensively since 1994... This year was a in and out sputter...

I really do not see Pryor as a WR but I could see our staff recommending it to him....

It would be hard to imagine Crompton, #2 QB prospect in his recruiting class, who has played behind Ainge for 3 years, not given the starting QB job. His arm would have to have never developed after the shoulder surgery for that to happen.

I think Stephens is a dark horse. He supposedly has the strongest arm on the team.

It would be hard to imagine Crompton, then the #2 QB prospect in the nation, who has played behind Ainge for 3 years not given the starting QB job.
Either his arm has never developed after the shoulder surgery.

I think Stephens is a dark horse. He supposedly has the strongest arm on the team.[/quot

Not good. With our receivers he will overthrow them.:ermm:

yeah........but as said b4 stephens does have the strongest are but he is not very accurate and cant run ( LIKE AINGE!!!!)....coleman/crompton are faster, maybe not have a cannon for a arm but are accurate

I am not arguing that Crompton will not get every opportunity to get the job. It is very likely he starts the season with the job. But why do people on here continue to throw in the "#2 QB prospect" into the equation as if that in any way enters into the coaches thinking when deciding a starting QB next season?

I think Cut just signed Stevens to keep him from going to Ole Miss...
