Kind of suprising to hear abot guys like Emerson and Butler working on the OL. Converting DL to OL? I guess that just further shows how badly Pruitt got screwed with this team.

Personally I like it. There are some old school coaches and programs that do not ordinarily recruit kids at all that only play OL in high school. Pittman at UGA formerly of UT was/is a proponent of this idea by the way. The thinking is the speed and ability along with the nasty it takes to play bigtime college ball on the line can mostly be found in kids that play DL in high school. The kids once you get them in your program, only the quickest, meanest, and nastiest get to stay on DL. The ones that can't make your grade at DL go to OL. It may be what just occurred.

Maybe. But if Trey Smith and Chance Hall are healthy and Richmond can be coached up to his potential we have a chance to be pretty good. I am in a wait and see mode, but not writing them off.

If those 3 ball out then I really have high hopes for this team.

In the video it seems they are blocking north and south rather than playing matador, so my hopes are that they will improve from last year.

They will no doubt be better than last year. Besides Smith they were pillow fighting last year

I am going to preface my response to your question by first stating that I think this team is lacking top-tier SEC level talent at almost evey position.

However, if you were in Pruitt’s shoes, would you blindly trust that Butch Jones and his coaching staff had every member of the team playing at their optimal position? I sure as hell wouldn’t.

Very good point

Our oline might be the worst in UT history

I'm guessing you have this saved in a notepad so that you can efficiently copy and paste it into every thread throughout the day on a daily basis. Pretty smart imo.

Still at db, not much by way of news though

Yea, I figured if he had been moved back something would have been said, and I haven't seen it posted.

I've always wanted him to do really well, for obvious reasons, but also because him being from Naples. I stopped by after work and got to see the last few minutes of the 3rd quarter and the 4th his senior year against Ft. Myers.

I know, cool story brah.

Nope.

I find it disheartening when I see things like an RB was moved to ILB or the punter is now the left guard for a practice..Reeks of desperation but I don't fault the new coach for it.

Does the constant swapping of players to various new positions raise a red flag for anyone in regards to the talent of this team?.....

No. To me it is the exact opposite. It means to me that they are experimenting moving the talent they have to spots where they can best help the team win.

It is also an indication that some spots lack depth more than others. I think Crosby, Butler and Emerson show great promise on the DL, but it is obvious that we need to see if they can help on the OL as well. That is a spot that needs depth desperately.

I imagine most of these experiments are to see what guys might be able to provide solid depth, if needed, at key positions, rather than expecting these guys to win starting jobs at new positions.

No. Just a coach that has a plan and wants to have film on certain players in different positions to evaluate for potential permanent switches. Could be for depth reasons in certain positions, or just wanting to see if a player might excel in another position.

nah, it's just a coach with a crazy concept of putting the best players on the field at all times....
