Spring Games against other teams

We don't have a playoff because of the supposed impact on schoolwork right? Can't see this being too welcome either.

I like this idea. They do it in high school, why not college.

because most high schools are a relatively short bus trip apart from each other so you won't see Memphis-Melrose scrimmage against Alcoa or Oak Ridge. High school scrimmages also don't involve the visiting team spending a couple of nights in a hotel either.

So, following with the high school ideal, who is UT going to scrimmage against? Maryville College, LMU, and UTC? Johnson Bible College? WNC, MTSU, Tennessee Tech, Carson Newman...

yeah, those are real compelling matchups with absolutely no upside for UT.

Anyone have any comments about Bobby Bowden and Rodney Allison's idea of having a spring game against other schools?

This sounds like an idea that popped into 'ol Bobby's head and he didn't think it out. Sounds good at first, but completely impractical.

On a side note - I can't decide whose avatar make more more sick - the JJ Re-dick one or the person that put Binlaydens face on Lofton's body. Both should be banned immediately.

FWIW, they could the charge a small admission and fill a decent number of seats. The games would be fun, but I do see the cons. I think it would be great until Vols started getting hurt.

I can solve that problem with two words: Flag Football. Think how much more competitive Cal would be.

I would love to see a scrimmage. A game played against teammates allows for one to learn their tendencies to a great extent.

Let them protect the QB and run a base, non-blitzing defense. Similar to the Pro-Bowl. There are some D1 schools that are within 2-3 hours from Knoxville.
