First off I would like to say that I really hope we capture this momentum from the bowl win and use it in the offseason.

I do have a few questions for the wise folks of Volnation. When do they start practicing? Do they have mandatory workouts now or is it involuntary right now? Who do you think will have the break out O&W game?

The spring practice dates haven't been announced yet (they usually announce the dates sometime after NSD in February).

It usually runs from the first or second week of March into early April, with the O&W game falling sometime in mid-April.

I hope we have 2 major breakouts in the O & W game...

1...Dobbs improved passing including his long balls.

2...Our entire O line which will be where everything counts on what we do next season.

Those 2 things are what's most critical for us to become a really good team.

I don't have many worries at all about our D next season and as long as our DB's can cover well I believe our much improved D line depth will get us 1 or 2 more Wins.

Dobbs threw the deep pass extremely well last OW game,he hit Malone and North on deep passes...
so I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into the OW game...

but I would like to see a lot crisper OL play

There's a lot of exciting players to follow this offseason but I am interested to watch a couple to see what kind of jump they make from year one to year two. Here's who I've got:

1. Owen Williams - He has some physical tools to be a really steady guy for us at DT. I'm excited about Tuttle and McKenzie coming in, but we can't rely on them alone. Owen Williams taking a big step would really be a benefit.

2. Cortez McDowell - He followed the JRM model for his freshman year. Can he make a JRM type jump for his sophomore season?

3. Chris Weathered - Lots of athletic ability, what role does he play? Can he be an every down linebacker or is he just a pass rush specialist? I'm very interested to see his development.

Honorable Mention: Dillon Bates, Michael Sawyers

As long and the OL gets better in protection and he has more than a half second to read the D, his down field passes will be a lot better. It's hard to throw the Long Ball when you have to get rid of it in less than a second.
