Laughed for 5 minutes during a segment about Harbaugh vs Jones.

They said Butch should shut up and stay off twitter because the allegations are much more important.

Said "No one would care about Tennessee football (on Saturday) if Butch didn't say that. Like now I'm interested to see Tennessee play Michigan some time so I guess they needed that exposure."

I would advise all Tennessee fans to just stop watching ESPN. I would assume that most of you have learned that lesson by now.

The only journalists or source that I trust right now are all under FOX Sports. Feldman is about the only one left with an objective pen.

The only way I can watch ESPIN is to have a 3" x 50" orange construction paper taped to the bottom of my TV so that I don't have to see TENNESSEE in the crawl. My heart sinks to China everytime I see that. ESPIN SUX!

Why can our fan base not understand that every personality in every media outlet in the world doesn't love the Vols? You're a fan, you've been a fan your whole life probably. They're a television channel that covers hundreds of teams. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp. I've never once thought ESPN, The Tennessean, etc "hate us". Who cares? This is the most annoying thing about the Vol Nation. Anytime someone on TV makes an objective statement about the program, everyone gets pretty butthurt about it. Live and let live, folks. Not a single opinion about this team should matter to anyone. All that matters is win/loss record. Go Vols.

Jones should be taking notes, remember all the reporters who are bad mouthing him and when all of this comes to pass, they will come calling for interviews he should simply tell them to f%*k off and moon them

Oh so Jones has to spend every waking moment concentrating on the lawsuit and his team? I've never seen this much douchebaggery. Jones made a lighthearted childish joke which was moderately funny at most and Jim came after him for a reason. He didn't go after Brett or Dan because had has nothing on them. Then SN/ESPN make it out so that CBJ gets roasted and is neglecting his team and legal situation.

I know this might sound like a conspiracy but this is a prime example of a bigger issue. The media (ESPN) will smear and turn everything against Jones until he is completely hated and is finished. Just like when the reports of Bowles came about, it was front page ESPN but when CBJ responded and facts about Bowles came out, guess what wasn't on the front page of ESPN? So, Jim makes an insult and lands front page and they turn it to make it look like Jim is a saint. ESPN definitely has favorites and Harbaugh is one of them.

Just like Manziel. He messed up a lot but he did a lot of things that were completely normal and legal but ESPN had to blow it up to where Manziel is out of control (which might be true now). They made a big deal out of his video that was of him singing a rap song in a club, drinking...
Nothing illegal.

The media plays the narrative, and right now the narrative is to gang up on Tennessee.

Once the stuff clears up, the narrative will shift in our defense and ESPN etc. will follow suit.

The thing is, Butch commented all in good fun and Harbaugh ignored the coach who started the conversation and ignored the coach of his in-state rival to take a very lame, sophomoric jab at Coach Jones. If SN spent five minutes on this, it must have been a REAL SLOW news day. Molehill meet mountain.

All of these examples of idiocy should be viewed within the proper context.

Here's a link to the SportsNation website with a summary of their coverage.

It should not be lost on any of us that the guy who wrote it is a Vandy grad and fan. Sports journalism, if it ever existed, died a long time ago. Everyone has an agenda and there's no such thing as objective coverage.

Butch foolishly went after Harbaugh and got smacked down. With the situation the Vols are in, he should have kept quiet.

It's not like either one of them were 'just joking' or 'kidding around'.

I have no idea why the football program isn't being celebrated on ESPN right now.

That's a bit much. This really isn't that dramatic.

I watch games on there only & UT highlights if we win. Learned a long time ago that their talk shows, sports center etc are not worth my time.

I see one flaw, I rarely have seen anyone complain about any fair or objective statements. It seems like if someone's job is to report news or talk about sports, they should have a general idea what they are talking about.
I know it's just not the norm anymore but there was a time when if you were paid to discuss these things, you at least had to have a better idea about the subject than those you were reporting to.

But then again, why would they now?
As long as you have fans lining up to be spoon fed, why would they bother making an attempt?
Cause hey, "we're settlers and you have your cabbages"

The real question is why is anybody watching anything other than live sports on ESPN?

These guys and gals aren't reporters in that setting. They are entertainers.

And it's amazing how many don't get that. They're media guys that all met in a production meeting 2 hours before the show and were told what opinion to push.

That's kinda the point though.
If your job is to make cheap jokes to sports bloopers, best not to attempt "informed opinions" on, well, any serious subject.
Better to just keep laughing at the 100th slip on a NBA floor than pretend you have a clue.
