VQ guys said 50. May have been 60. Many times a highly recruited player will bring a handful or two of his teammates with him. So that's how you get 50-60 recruits at practice.

This was from VQ...

They had about 50 guys here, but I don't have a full list but here's who I know made it in.

2014
Vic Wharton
Todd Kelly Jr.
Dillon Bates
Shaun Dion Hamilton
Kendrick Doss
Derek Barnett
CJ Reavis (Friday)
CJ Hilliard

2015
Carlos Johnson - Pearl Cohn
Justin Hilliard
Jackson Pittman

2016
Darel Middleton (offer)

Suprised sport talk found some time to talk football in between NASCAR and commercials. Anyway...where we're the berry twins? Have either made any public comments lately? We really need these guys to be a part of the legacy class.

They also said (I think) that we had about 34 former players as well. Jamal Lewis even being one of them.

Sounds like possibly the best opening practice atmosphere anywhere in America... Not just Football.
Imagine being a player, recruit, or anyone there and looking around at legends, awesome potential, and being involved with the Alma Mater !!!

Fact. That's how's my recruits signed in/registered and were on the board. 60 was the number. I know that Dillon Bates, Wharton, TKJr , Bailey Lenoir, Isaiah McDaniel, Ryan Jenkins, were there for sure, kind if a mix if 13 and 14 classes. Not sure who all else.

Yep. Leonard Little and even Johnny Majors too.

Yes Majors was there, flew in from somewhere Sat morning. Dressed up in a blue suit. At the end of practice all the former players introduced themselves to the current players. Majors spoke to them briefly, told them he liked the way they practiced and they gave him a standing O.

The more I see/hear about CBJ the more I think we finally got the right guy. Butch clearly has a plan and brought in his team of guys to implement it.

Kiffin was also smart and caculating but in a douchey weasel way without an ethical bone in his body.

Dooley was also smart and seemed to walk on the right side of the law but was evidently too pig-heading and controlling to ever give himself a chance to truly succeed.

CBJ seems to offer the best of both worlds. I'm willing to bet his first call to former players was to Manning. The big name former Vols are the willing bait to help bring kids in so Jones and staff can seal the deal. It may be a long road back to relevance but at least UT finally seems to have the right guy reading the map!
