I have the football from the last play of the win over number 1 Auburn in 1985, my dad got it for me off the field, it was just left in the spot and everyone was stepping over it on the field and he just picked it up. I have since got it autographed by all the QBs of my lifetime from Andy Kelly to Erik Ainge, haven't gotten Crompton to sign it yet, but need to.

I have a few in frames on my wall at home and in my office, ones that are really special to me, a signed UT softball jersey from the World Series, a home 1997 football jersey, Lady Vol basketball jersey from 04 signed, and a Kevin Burnett game worn Cowboys white jersey are all in frames, along with a couple of others. Jersey framing is more expensive than the actual jerseys.

The rest are in a couple of closets, worn from time to time.

That's pretty awesome.

My dad was a sportswriter, so I have been very fortunate to get several things I cherish.

UT related:
Reggie White poster signed when he was still a Vol (and I was a baby).
Reggie White signed UT basketball program when he was honored during halftime at a game.
Carl Pickens and Andy Kelly signed painting.
Heath Shuler signed poster.
Mutliple Allan Houston autographs.
Chris Lofton signed jersey.
Most UT basketball players autographs that have played since the Wade Houston era (thru last years team).
My fave Vol memorabilia (in a tie w/the Reggie White signed poster) is a hat that I have had signed by Johnny Majors, Phil Fulmer, Lane Kiffin and now Dooley.

Non-UT related- The entire 2005 UNC basketball national championship teams autographs on a poster (w/Roy Williams as well).
1978 - 1984 UNC team posters (several have Jordan, Worthy and Sam Perkins on them).

NBA- Shaq, Penny, Nick Anderson autographs from when they played on the Magic.
Dominique Wilkins auto in Hawks program.
Grant Hill Pistons program auto.

MLB- Dale Murphy auto on hat.

I also have a piece of the goal post from the 98 Florida game. I helped carry it out of the stadium. Got a small ring cut off at a bar somewhere on the strip I think, can't remember much of that night after the game to be honest. :)

Also have an autographed game-used jersey card of Tee Martin. Not worth much but special to me.

What is a game used jersey card?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Card companies cut a game-used jersey into a million 1inch square pieces and glue them onto football cards. Seems like a pretty big waste to me.

I actually just found this yesterday in a box of stuff from when I was a kid. My mom used to work for delta at the chattanooga airport. she would get autographs for me when people came through. I remembered her getting me a UT football players autograph but I didn't realize when I was younger who it was. She had Marcus Nash sign his boarding pass...it was the summer after the national championship because he signed it "world champs" and he also signed his rookie card! I was amazed to find it...she also had
peyton sign his boarding pass his first year in the pros.

Most of those aren't actual jerseys.

Robert Meachem signed a deal with a card company and they produced a bunch of "game-worn jersey" cards. Only problem was, Robert had all of his game-worn jerseys and the mesh in the card was a different pattern from the mesh UT used during his career.

Game-worn jersey cards are, for the most part, a HUGE scam.

So it was YOU who outbid me on the Steve Johnson!:p

Haha, no, actually it wasn't, although I saw that one on eBay almost a year ago. I've had mine (with grass stain on the shoulder) since 2002, so I'm not sure where that one on eBay came from. I remember I contacted the seller and made a really quick check of my closet, but never heard back from him.

Very interesting stuff, DeerPark. That's a pretty ballzy thing for a company to do.

This sir, is incorrect. Robert Meachem signed a deal to put on a bunch of jerseys at what they call the "Rookie Premier" and they are deemed "Event-Used"

The cards that specifically state that they are game used, are 100 percent game used. Card companies would lose their licenses so fast if they weren't legit game used jersey pieces it's not even funny. All of the early jersey pieces, before the season start, are cut from hundreds of "Rookie Premier" worn materials... I say materials because they get the rookies to put on helmets and shoes and even touch footballs, and use them all as "Event Worn" and insert them into cards... I collect cards heavily, so I know alot about this stuff =)

Well, those Meachem cards weren't. That came from him directly. He never gave them anything orange for the cards.

Now, if we're talking Saints jersey cards that's different, but I'm speaking of a line of cards with orange mesh in them.

I know several people in the card dealing business who have had similar experiences with companies, even the big ones on "game worn jersey" cards. You'll find, and as a collector, I'm sure you have already, that many reputable dealers won't even deal in those cards anymore.

I think the companies you are referring to are Sage Co. and Press Pass Inc.

I have 2 Meachems out of the Sage set that are Orange Game Used materials, and it says that they are Guaranteed to be official collegiate worn jersey cards.

The Trading Card Association keeps a close eye on authenticity of products, and if a high-profile rookie like Meachem were to have had any "false" college jerseys, Press Pass or Sage would be shut down so fast it's not even funny.

I have run into alot of people that don't deal in Press Pass or Sage, mainly bulk dealers, but that's because there is no return value on them except at the beginning of the year when they are the only cards. As soon as rookies start getting into the Big Time card sets like the Donruss (Now Panini), Upper Deck (No license anymore) and Topps and such, they are just higher end cards. The cards are made better and usually provide a Quality over quantity factor that is better than Press Pass or Sage.

If the thing about Meachem is true, I would be happy to report the use of false materials to the Trading Card Association (I don't currently know what their actual name is) and let them know, and hit press pass and sage with some stuff to knock their socks off.
