Sports Bar Attendees - Need your insight

I have some buddies here that would KILL for a decent place to watch Liverpool play, then on other nights be able to go to the same sweet place and watch the Vols.

There is a new bar and restaurant in West Knoxville (Turkey Creek area) called The Irish Times that would fit their bill. Cool place.

I would second this. In particular, show English Premier League games if you can (sometimes this would involve opening at 6 or 7 AM). Not only are their fans fanatically loyal, but they will stay and drink beer literally ALL DAY afterwards.

(Of course, that's both good and bad.)

You got that right!!

Name it GOOBERS and dress the men waiters in tight "boy shorts" and go after a different clientele.
It doesn't surprise me that this came from an Alabama fan. No doubt the idea has passed through your mind several times.:p

Thoughts on food. . . .

If you're going to go for burgers and wings, they cannot be the "ordinary variety," or you'll be nothing but ordinary. I'd offer quality beef and a little more exotic wings (thinking Habenero BBQ, etc.). Some variety is nice -- a great French dip or Philly, stone-baked BBQ chicken pizza, maybe coconut shrimp or fish tacos. . . .

I'm kind of thinking more along the lines of where I'd go, as opposed to the Strip idea, though. Cumberland Avenue is, by any regard, a college kid hangout, except on gamedays. If I were in the market to open a Sports bar, that would make me downright nervous -- seems like all you'd do is watch for fake ID's and non-minors buying drinks for the underage crowd.

I'll tell you where to put one: Farragut. You've got tons of younger businesspeople with the money for babysitters and fancy cocktails, the lack of any real sports-bar venue, plenty of restaurant and retail traffic, and plenty of development space available. If you've ever been to one, think "Fox and Hound." Kick that up a notch to the trendy -- updated decor in place of English Traditional, a martini menu for the ladies, and maybe even live music on the weekends after games are over.

Whaddya think?
I would also add Downtown to that as well, with some good pool tables, dart tourneys, a decent menu, some hotties serving beer and food-money.

You just described the Chattanooga Billiard Club.
Cherry Street, downtown. Add it to your list BD...
That is fantastic. We are moving on April 21st weekend. I will be here for the next week and then down there full time around the 30th. Meet you for a beer sometime that week.

Really? I had no idea it was worth checking out. It just looked like another trendy Buckhead meat-market type place with overpriced drinks. I will have to check it out; I can walk there in about ten minutes from my house.

It is a trendy meat-market type place. It does, however, have a very good set-up for watching games, both in alignment of the seating area and the multiple TV configuration.

Actually that thought never crossed my mind. Clearly though, we could give a **** about the condition of the bathrooms...

Just so you'll know... we leave the lid up in the mens all the time...

Aha! I've got it! Touchscreen menu's on every table. Order what you want, WHEN you want. No tipping. No waiting on a slow, stupid bar wench that will just mess up your order anyway. Still have several skanky pole dancers moving about the crowd though.
