Sports Animal = Propaganda Garbage

Sorry I didn't realize people weren't allowed to joke on this board. My mistake. And how does my post in any way make me a Kiffinite? He wasn't my first choice, but I think he's done just fine so far. At least he's bringing some excitement back to our dead program. I love you Fulmer supporters. Maybe 1% of your posts require post-elementary school logic.

You should have seen his fact based Kiffin post the other day. Solid logic all the way through.

Yes I made the mistake of not reading some of his other posts before responding. Otherwise I could've written a novel trashing him.

A lot of valuable info goes across the air on that station from 3-7...it just depends on wheather or not you can filter out what you want to hear,or need to hear for that matter...If you let a talk show host do your thinking for you, then you are screwed from the start anyway...

A word on reception: FM 99.1 comes in well along 75 south to appx Cleveland, 411 south to Benton, 27 South to Dayton, with good coverage further south on the ridge. I'm in my car a lot...

Having said that; it's really not worth listening to any more. The morning show is as weak as ever, although seasonally better with the onset of Basketball season.

The Sports Page is a homoerotic love fest between Dave Hooker and John Adams (way too much giggling and teasing between grown men, in my book), although I do like Fred White.

The rest of the daytime crap- the latest version of the daytime crap especially- is pathetic. Pennington was a pr!ck but way better than the morons on the air now.

Sports talk is uninteresting. John and Jimmy are out of the loop and their reporting is weak. I used to dread the bit with Mike Keith, now it, along with the bit with Rocky the ref, is the only decent programming they have.

I used to tune in for infromation on the Vols, now I know everything 3-4 days before they report it thanks to VN.

Thank God for XM.

That noon-3 show is one of the absolute worst things I've ever heard on radio.

Was out of town for a couple weeks and came back to no Rome. Wrote Dearstone and he replied

We replaced Rome with John and Josh. It was a financial decision. Local
businesses didn't want to advertise on Rome.
Mickey

But they will advertise with these clowns?

Pennington & Ward were improving and offering something local-unique. The "name that tune" stuff was pretty lame.

Chip and Ward make Mickey and Heather seem intelligient. Chip must be a legacy or really attractive to Mickey. How does that guy draw a paycheck for anything ???

Adams is good on the Sports Reporter. Hooker can get immature pretty quick

I agree! I did enjoy it better when John Pennington was on but now it's gotten a whole lot worse.

And why can't Jimmy Hyamms get some real sources?? Even now it seems he doesn't want to be positive. I can't even listen anymore. I do enjoy when people call in to tell him he was wrong!!

I really can't listen to the Sports Animal anymore, except for prolly JT the Brick and Ben Maller on late nights. They do a good show for the most part.

Basillio on the ESPN Radio affliate here isn't too bad to listen to.

Agreed...I go to lunch 12-1....I liked it when they at least talked UT sports. Now they are pro sports 12-1, college 1-2, and the lighter side (wtf?) 2-3

Basillio is fun to listen too, I don't think he knows much more than a lot of the fans though. I is definitely a homer....but I do like him. Wish he was still on the FM dial

About six weeks ago, I had to go on disability because of a stress fracture in my lower right leg. I was born and raised in east TN (Rogersville) but I live in OH and have for 30+ years. And while driving and otherwise radio listening, I have had to listen to the local tOSU stuff. The result was that I knew more about the big 10 than my own SEC and I was not necessarily pleased with that.
So, I took the "time off" opportunity to get my SEC "jones" back on and I have been listening to a few of the internet offerings that Knoxville and other SEC towns/stations have to offer.
The Sports Animal does suck. Hooker is an a$$. I will listen in the late afternoon and "filter out" some of the brown nosing but for the most part...nada.. And Basillio is OK but he gets out there sometimes. It might rag a few here but I listen to Finebaum regularly, especially since the latest dog and pony show going on down there.
Anyhoo, "hey" from up here...

i'm not sure why all the complaining about the weak signal.

the 990 AM has ALWAYS been stronger than the 99.1 FM signal. and really, they've both been pretty weak.

Do more people listen to 100.3? If not why not switch em around? They all showed me their mettle when the biggest sports story in Knoxville (before the firing) was Fulmer's job status and they all refused to talk about it. It went from defense of Fulmer to no comment.

What station is Basillio on?

Finnebaum is the guy in AL correct? They might talk about AL and Auburn alot, but at least the guy attempts to be neutral when discussing everyone else. In my eyes, that is how a journalist on a local sports radio station should operate.

I was asking a question. I only go to AL maybe once every couple of months for business. I'm really not sure who I listen to. I said they were homers, but they at least seem to give a fairly accurate assessment of other teams. Now there's a good chance I'm talking about someone else. I'm really not sure.
