coaches break rules all the time. Basketball is worse than football because there is no other way to survive in basketball. it is ruthless in recruiting.

Just the way it is. You just have to be careful how you do it and be sure not to piss off your peer coaches around the country and league. you don't want coaches turning you in or you will get investigated.

just the way things are. that would be my thoughts.

It is a sad statement on humanity - or at least college basketball - that all these great "moral" coaches would blackball Pearl for turning in a big-time cheater. I am not condoning what Pearl did, but maybe he finally realized that if you can't beat 'em (legally), then join 'em. That is the "lesson" most people would take by the way he was treated.

What's really sad is a former coach who follows the SEC closely indicating that the SEC is "not a clean conference" and any coach who doesn't bend the rules can't survive. I have a different perspective on Pearl now, but still in no way can condone lying.
