I'm a Vol fan, but I also like Alabama because they're kinda geographically close to Tennessee and they win a lot. My favorite NCAA basketball team is Duke, but I kinda like Kentucky too. Oh, and UNC. They're neat. For baseball, I like the Yankees. NBA....hmmm, I'll go with the Lakers. Kobe is so awesome! NFL is definitely the Giants. I mean, they just won the Super Bowl. Who wouldn't love them?!
It's a great time to be a sports fan!
Grandfather went to Georgia Tech so I pull for them to do well.
Best friend is an FSU fanatic so I pull for them to do well.
Half my family is in Kansas and are KU basketball freaks so I pull for them to do well.
I also own GT, FSU and KU apparel.
Did I root for KU to beat Tennessee in basketball? Hell no. Did I root for FSU to beat Tennessee in 98? Hell no. If GT and Tennessee play again will I root for them? Hell no. I will probably be all up in my grandfather's face talking smack. I bleed orange and always will.
I personally think its ok for a Vol to root for or support another team if they have a personal attachment to that team (except for rival teams of course. Like my friend who says she is a Vol but roots for Bama because of her boyfriend. That drives me nuts).

John Ward and Reggie White pulled me to the Vols. We live in what now seems to be Va Tech country. When my oldest son was in 2nd grade or so he came home and asked me if he could like Tech at least a little because all his friends did. I told him to feel free to like them and to save up some allowance money to buy a blanket 'cause it's gonna be cold sleeping in the damned builing beside the lawnmower. I then told him that waivering faith was how the devil tests good people. I like a lot of these stories and appreciate any real Vol fan, but I just don't get how you can pull for 2 teams in college with all the tradition and rivalry that make college sports so great. :twocents:
I'll bet none of you have a 51 Chevy pickup painted Tennessee ORANGE! I searched for days trying to find a color close to the color of the football jerseys. Everyone asks me what kind shade it is and I just tell them it's Bright-ass Tennessee Orange.
AmenWhat is up with all the split allegiances that I am seeing now, even on VN?
People claiming to be UT fans, but have other teams clothing and attire.
Either you bleed orange or you dont. None of this
"I love UT, but I also like other teams that are winning" BS.
Get your priorities straight. UT, one and only
You want these players to be all vol, vfls. You want them to bleed orange, yet you cant make up your minds what frickin team you want to route for.
WTF?
GBO or go home
count for once im not going to argue with you on a topic and it feels weird. I live in va tech territory and I run into this problem often, people claim to be hokie football fans but when basketball rolls around they are duke/unc and for baseball its always clemson or uva. Liking 2 schools from the same conference is wrong no matter how you look at it means your just a bandwagon fan, and you wanna suck on the flavor of the week for a whileWhat is up with all the split allegiances that I am seeing now, even on VN?
