Are you guys watching these bowls? Speed is winning these games guys. Some people want to say its not everything but it one of the few elements that can't be taught and we don't seem to have any on offense. I guess that's why we're at home. One reserve receiver(D.Moore) can't get it done.

I don't know how your saying Speed is winning, considering Miami has one of the fastest defenses in the country.

Usain Bolt couldn't get under a pass thrown by Crompton.

Besides that, it's tough to throw when you're getting hammered on the third step of a three-step drop.

No he's pretty fast, but he's also running behind one of the best lines in the country.
And if anything, Miami has a pretty fast offense too, but it's not working too well.

I'm talking about our backs too. We need speed I'm tired of having these power backs we need some breakaway speed lined up backed there.

Power backs worked just fine for Nebraska and Wisconsin all those years.

Of course, having a well-coached offensive line was a big part of that.

Yeah and we see where they are now. And we see how far we've gone down.

Nebraska changed everything before they crashed. Wisconsin just hasn't had a player like Ron Dayne. They haven't ever been special without him.

lockdown dont listen to those remarks. speed kills and they all know it. Yes Nebraska had power backs but Tommy Frazier and eric Crouch and scott Frost at qbs were fast, fast, fast! They got the ball to the perimeter before the pitch then those guys just had to be fast enough in open space. They didnt have to make a guy miss then break. Arian foster has been run down from behind at least a dozen times. I am glad he is graduating

Nebraska's option game was largely predicated on the backside of the line cutting the crap out of the defensive line, thus making it impossible to get "dragged down from behind".

Second, Nebraska ran the option about 40% of the time during their most open days. The QBs weren't carrying the ball the other 60% of the time; they were either passing (speed irrelevant) or handing the ball off (speed irrelevant).

The option game can be successful with the slowest quarterback imaginable. If you remember Steve Beuerlein at Notre Dame, you have some idea of what I'm talking about.

Speed, while not something we had an overwhelming amount of on offense this last season, was not our issue this season. For example, if we had Gault and the fleet Anthony's (Morgan and Miller) back at WR we'd have seen limited improvement in the passing game IMO. Line and QB play would have rendered their athleticism largely moot.

There were runs made by Foster that a fast back like Best,Rainey,or Demps would have taken to the house. If a line has a fast back they only have to block but for so long. He'll be through the hole and gone before it closes up.

Yeah and guys want to say Foster was more productive but Coker had the IT factor that made him such a threat. You never knew what would happen when he had the ball.

I'm a big fan of speed but to focus on it too much just doesn't work out well. The list of great backs with average speed is a long one.

I'll never cry about more speed IF you don't have to sacrifice too much in other areas. (vision/elusiveness/balance/etc) There's a reason why football fields aren't covered with elite track athletes. Very few of those guys have what it takes to be good football players.
