The Trooper thread did get me wondering. There are some teams in college football w/ a special teams coach. We have our fill of coaches w/out having one, and while i thought Wilhoit and Colquitt did great this year, kickoff and punt return and coverage has been lacking some the past few years (blocked punt against UGA remembered). So my questions are, what kind of rearranging would it take to get a special teams coach and if anyone thinks it would be worthwhile?

There are only a certain number of coaching positions available, so we would have to eliminate a position to make a special teams only coach. That being said, I would love to see Dale Jones come back to UT as special teams coach.

perhaps i wasn't clear enough on my original post. i'm on all kinds of cold medicine, so i realize that could be. what i want to know, is what kind of rearranging can we do to eliminate a position coach and hire a special teams coach.

 Whats sad is..............is that 25 years down the road or somesuch CPF is gonna basically quote thusly....When asked why he did'nt take over the offensive line being that was his area of expertise, and inasmuch open a coaching position for a special teams coach.....''I did'nt feel it was necessary''

Personally, I've always thought it was counterproductive for a Head Coach to also coach a position.
