Other than the OL, I've been fairly happy with what I've seen on the field. The OL though, that scares me. They really need to make some big strides.

I thought we might get a fight out of this team. They have speed in a few places. Most encouraging thing so far in my mind has been the improvement from a speed standpoint. Especially defensively. That unit is clearly a lot better. Offense has some warts and will probably all year. It's where we're at. Win 6 somehow and get to a bowl game should be the goal. Anything more would be a bonus..

so you think the same 10 plays and gameplan will be in store for next week I guess.
It will be a shame if that's the case.

edit..saw your edit. That's my fault. I didn't see the Ga mention.

I did not say what either of you are arguing over. I did say we would see a few more twists in the first half at OK than what we have seen so far. I did say we'd see the D playing balls to the wall, and by any standard of description that's PLAYING TO WIN. If, IF, we are close at the half we will see more of the playbook. If not, we'll only see in the 2nd half what we've already seen through 2 1/2 games. The rest of the playbook will be saved for SEC play, WHERE IT MATTERS. Screw this real men waste any advantage to play like real men crap. That's juvenile high school chest puffing.

Wow, so you don't do plays hoping they will work later? In the meantime we are getting beat up by playing our starters almost the whole game against mid majors? And still not executing. You scheme against mismatches per team you play. While trying to exploit those mismatches you run the plays that you execute well to keep the defense honest. Oklahoma will bring six and cover our wr with everyone else. North will do a sideline out or just throw it up. Pig will go deep everytime he is on the outside. Just for starters. We haven't had a big play and like I said earlier, Kentucky has more yards in 4 runs than we have all year. I love my vols, but we can do a lot better with what we have.

We didnt just play starters. We went 3 at rb, 9-10 deep at wr, 8 at OL, 3 at te, 10-12 deep on DL, 7-8 deep at lb and at least 10 dbs.

Or you can say we just played our starters the whole time and hope nobody saw the game.

I still think 6 is a tall order. Vanderbilt has regressed, but Kentucky is better. Mizzou, Ole Miss, Florida will all be really tough. South Carolina is a long shot. Georgia would take a perfect game and a lot of luck.

First away game with a young team at Oklahoma, pretty tough proposition. It will be interesting to see how they handle it. Hopefully they will be better off for the experience and it will help them when they play the games that count in the SEC.

We played a short week. I am sure that played into it. I just wonder why there were no jet sweeps with Pig. Why don't we ever run wheel routes? I am happy we got the win and for the most part the defense played good again.

OL will get better, we just have to be patient. The OUT game has not been played and nobody knows what's going to happen. Hopefully Wolfe and Von are ok.

Well now that you restated what you meant I think we would all agree with you. I mistankly took it as if you were saying we wouldn't show anything more to OK than we did today against Ark State. I understand the bland calling today, but I'm still concered for our o-line in terms of blocking and our d-line in terms of depth.

We just had to give it our all today because ark state was actually a good team. Anyone who says otherwise, humble up.

I would only do plays my team can execute. If they are so inexperienced they're only able to execute 'vanilla', we do vanilla, get film, find bad tendencies, and correct them. Then we move forward. Increase the play difficulty and increase the variation of play calling to make it harder on the defense.

O line and D Line will be the Achilles heel for this team all season. Both of these things will affect the whole team.

The O line just isn't very good and that delayed hand off just doesn't work because no one is the least bit concerned about Worley tucking it and running.

D line has zero depth. It's gonna get this team in serious trouble as the season progresses IMO.

True words of wisdom Carter....I think 6 wins will be tough. Mizzou, SC, Ole Miss, FL....they must steal one of those and not slip up against vandy or ky.

Keep grasping straws and celebrate our win for the kids, they deserve it. But if you ever think that I will be happy with what we saw today against a mid major, you are wrong. It was not a good win. We are more talented but hey, they have been well coached for 3 years! What I keep hearing, so what does that say about our coaching? ? I believe in butch, but this offense is pathetic, and always has been. We have good players, we have spirit, but if you think more talent is all we need then god bless you... I know we are better than this.

Me? A win is a win and we packed it in early today against a quick opponent with a good qb and we will get killed the next 2 weeks.
Him? He's drunk and pissed that we won today because we played far from perfect.

The time to get pissed after a win like this is when we play our best and eke it out.

How is this offense pathetic were avg over 400 yds a game because u dnt see the gigantic plays we had 4 drives of 70 or more yds and we scored more than 30 points this a power spread look at what the other team is doing and pay attention to Worley didn't he have a few runs today as his confidence grows so will the play book

Unless the injuries pile up before we play our last game against Vandy, and based on how Vandy is doing so far, we should best the Commodores. Kentucky looks tougher by far this year. Mizzou & Fla is not looking easy. SCAR, I just find it hard to figure how they got whipped so so bad by ATM. It's Ol' Miss I'm hoping for a more experienced team to play lights out.

So with 2 under our belts. Chattanooga, Kentucky, Ol' Miss, & Vandy gets us there, maybe. Six win teams have been passed over before. I don't know which out of Fla, Mizzou, or SCAR I believe we've got a better chance.

If we use the screen game we win by 21 more points. Running the ball is very important of course but our extended run game is the Manning/Brady dink and dunk in space....saw it all last Sunday but not today. We didn't need to go deep into our play book for this team. Save it for next week.

Also thought if we could get Patches O'houllihan to throw some wrenches at the OL's and make them get mean and play angry in the run game...might help...

Exactly what my Pops said..we are running the Manning run game.

Ok! :good!:

Not drunk at all, d@8#he!d...and definately not pissed. I am disappointed in our gameplan. I am happy for our players as they are doing what they are told, playing hard and I am proud of them. I am saying everyone says they won their conference, What do we say? yay, they won their conference and bowls last year and we beat them! I am saying I am not. What I don't say is we need better players, ours arent sec material. I see coaches scheme around their weaknesses, ours don't. Simple.

Isn't what you are saying, which I take to be "scheme around our player's weaknesses"; pretty much what we are seeing done? .. and that is what I've been advocating. New starters on the lines on both sides, but with more experience and older players on defense. And that shows in that it's the Dline playing better.

The Oline will come around, but it will take time, it just will. Why shove more than they can do at them, e.g. scheme around their weaknesses by running what they know and can run the best. Add more plays in the games as appropriate.

So far this has worked, they're 2-0.
