Space Shuttle Launch...

Rminded of Steve Bushemi's Armaggeddon comment. ''How do you feel about being strapped to a rocket built by the lowest bidder'.

That was awesome. Got to watch the long flame go up into the sky and the glow of the rockets seperate. All from my driveway while enjoying a cool beverage. I love Florida. Well almost always. Except when we lose the Gators four years in a row.

ditto

We were able to see the shuttle for about six minutes in the night sky, by far the longest. Usually you'll be able to see it for about two minutes before it disappears, but we had a good clear night for the launch.

I was on a flight to Miami once when there was a night launch. Liftoff was just as we were even with the Cape. The sight from around 40,000 ft was almost indescribable, as we could see the initial light-up, and watch the Shuttle ascend to well over 100,000 ft. It turned the night into day for what seemed like several minutes, but in reality was less than a minute I suppose.

I'm serious. Being an ME in school, I want your job.:)
 I gotcha. I forgot that you were a ME student. How much school do you have left?

There are times when I daydream about working on a space vehicle, but what I am doing now is relatively steady and pays decently. I tell some people what I do and they go "cool". More often than not, it is just a job. There are worse ways to make a living.

Thanks guys for the links. I got stuck in traffic and missed it live.

Eh, I've got about 2 years left I guess, if the BOS doesn't strike me.

I watched this one from about 50 miles north. Because of the cloud cover, the launch lit up the whole sky as a backdrop. Very nice.

I can see it from my work.

FineVol where are you?
I was along Hwy 1 last night near MacDonald's in Titusville watching the launch. It was our first time seeing a live shuttle launch. It was AWESOME!
I work at the Cape but Friday was my RDO.
