Yet another reason to turn Elon and SpaceX loose. No more foot dragging on launch licenses for Starship testing. That would be the best vehicle possible to deal with the threat.
When they do these static fires, are the vehicles locked into place somehow and they are running full throttle? Or are they just running at a rate that won't generate enough thrust to get off the ground?

from a structural standpoint that is a much different way/location of dealing with the forces. Unless they are clamped from straight below, which doesn't seem feasible.
