Where? In your dreams. The great pumpkin is not the coach SOS is. He just is not.

I don't remember what year it was but it was the year Spurrier told CPF after the game that we kicked their (UF's)you-know-whats every way it could be kicked. On the press conference after the game he even said it himself "We were outcoached" I remember it.

It's the highest we've been since 1984, I believe... not sure if it's the highest we've ever been. As far as SEC championships, we've only been in the SEC since 1991... compared to Tennessee who has been in since 1932. Granted, the Vols have won the SEC twice since we've joined, so that's not much of an excuse.

how many bowl games, total wins, nfl players, top ten rankings at the end of the year, etc, etc? you get the point.

There's no disagreement that Tennessee has historically been a superior team. Bashing the Gamecocks about the head and shoulders with statistics and honors that your previous teams have earned is of little bearing on this year's matchup, in my opinion.

I believe if I was gonna find a mascot for my team I'd have chosen something other than a CHICKEN.

..........:stooges:
Spurrier Smelley Gamecock
Still, there is something.... invigorating... about college cheerleaders standing before thousands, smiling proudly, with the word 'cocks' across their chest.

I'm just saying..

Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Kentucky and Arkansas State are a good bit different quality of football teams, but please feel free to disagree with me if you don't mind being wrong.... Yeah I know that sounds like smack talk, but I doubt there are many people here, or anywhere else, who would disagree with me.

Anyhow, to answer your question, I don't really have a good feel for what our chances are against Tennessee. Our defense is starting to play quite well, despite key losses due to injuries, but our offense is still a work in progress. We have relatively little experience on offense with a decent amount of young players, so I don't really know what to expect from week to week. Hell, even though we lost to LSU, we were at least a bit competitive for a while. Who knows? It's hard to say how young players are gonna react to a really hostile environment.

Sorry, my brain usually reaches the weekend sooner than the rest of me... Anyhow, the ONLY thing that keeps me constantly excited about the Gamecocks is that they manage to figure out SOME way to stay competitive in just about EVERY game. They aren't consistent, but SOMEhow they figure out a way to play with the best of em and make it interesting.

They are a bit different but look at the 1 common opponent between SC and UT and see how each team fared.

I hope you aren't insinuating that the victory margin for each of our teams against Georgia is a good basis for comparison... Every given Saturday a different team can show up for a game. Let me give an example... let us apply the transitive property of looking at scores:

Mississippi State defeats Auburn (at Auburn) 19 - 14. Auburn defeats Florida (in the freakin Swamp) 20-17. Florida defeats Tennessee 59 - 20. If you want to look at scores, Mississippi State is going to DESTROY Tennessee this weekend, right?

Based on that Wofford would also go to Michigan and beat them.

I think it'll be a good football game.

As you'd expect on a Vol board, I'm picking Tennessee to win.

I think both defenses are average, honestly. Carolina has a fine secondary, but they've been bad against the run. LSU and Kentucky really ran at will against South Carolina. If USC doesn't toughen up against the run, Tennessee should move the ball effectively all night. Again, Tennessee's defense hasn't been great either...so I'm sure South Carolina will muster up a few nice offensive drives against UT.

Obviously, the ramifications of this game will be big if UT can get out of Starkville and Tuskaloosa with victories. In a game that could determine the East division champion, I like having homefield advantage with a senior quarterback going up against a redshirt freshman.
