South Carolina v Virginia Tech

The announcers were drooling all over Sellers at the start of the game, even called him the best player in the country and the #1 draft pick. I don't see it.

Let's see, Vols and SC played ACC teams at the same neutral-site location. Vols played a team that won ten games last year and SC played a team that won six games last year.
The Vols hung 45 points on Syracuse, 31 in the first half including a 1:34 drive to end the second quarter. SC was hanging on with a 10 to 8 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
I know comparisons like this are questionable, but it appears that we have a better team and coaches. My two cents.

The final score was 38-10. South Carolina State outgained them in yards.

Consider that South Carolina scored on two punt returns and a fumble return for touchdowns. You could say they didn't need much offense or you could say without those this is a close game.

They basically beat Virginia Tech on a punt return as well.

Maybe their return game is elite this year. That is part of the game. They sorta do what it takes, and Beamer's teams always seem to do just enough against the competition.

I say them along with Illinois is rated to high. We see that in Iowa State. Rated high to start the year. Don't look real impressive but because you don't lose but others do then you could even move up.
