I actually went to high school and played football with one of ya'lls current players too. He's a lineman and playing center for ya'll. Dalton Freeman. I saw him starting a couple of weeks ago against wake i think it was and thought it was cool because he came from small a** Pelion, SC and he was starting in college in his 2nd year. He's a damn beast though. Unfortunately I used to play some d-end and would be on the bad end of him pulling and taking out the end. Lol.

You know records aren't the only thing that show improvement. Whether yall hate USC or not or whether we hate ya'll or not. Set that aside. Spurrier has brought our University a long long way from where it was when mr slur was here (Lou). If you went to Williams Brice when Lou was here and have been there either last year or will be there next year you will see much improvement as well. Spurrier is also bringing in top notch recruits year in and year out.

Oh, I see. They have improved everywhere except the win-loss column. I understand now. Give me one area of your team that is better now than when Spurrier got there.

ummm.....if you have not won, how can you say you have improved? hmmm...

...seriously, are you saying the atmosphere at Death Valley South is the mark of improvement under Spurrier?!?!?

...are you actually making the argument that your recruiting ranking is a sign of improvement? The man is Steve-freakin'-Spurrier...

...if he can't recruit players to USC, NOBODY can...

...and it is apparent, even with his ability to recruit shiny stars...

...he cannot field more than a mediocre squad. He has proven that year in and year out...

...but you do have next year...:eek:lol:

Um well since when was a 6-2 team a mediocre squad? I think ya'll at 4-3 are a little closer to mediocre right now.

Depth, we use to just have good starters, now we have good 2nd and 3rd stringers. It's completely different from how it was. Yea our records might not look like they are improving, but the team as a whole is getting very good, and young might I add, look at the young guys:
Garcia-RS Soph
Alshon-Fresh
Gurley-RS Fresh
Miles -RS Fresh
Giles-Fresh
Holloman-Fresh
Gilmore-Fresh
Auguste-Soph
Barnes-Soph
Ingram-Soph
Whitlock-Soph
Shaq-Soph
Allen-Soph
TJ Johnson-RS Fresh
Richardson-Soph
Devin Taylor-RS Fresh

And these are people that either start or alot of snaps. It's the first time I can remember we were very solid all the way through, with ALOT of young superstar potential talent like this.
Granted I know Tennessee has seen alot of teams like this, but you have to remember, this is all kinda new for us, so it is really exciting.

let's look at 2007 (edited...had the wrong year)...

...what was your record after the first 6 games...

...and your record after the last 6...

...also, 6-2 after 8 games is not much different than 4-3 after 7...

...like to the tune of 1 more loss for coots who can't do the math...

...if you finish 6-6 and Clemson finishes 9-3....

...how good does your 6-2 look? :eek:lol:

But I get it...you need SOMETHING to hang your hat on knowing the end is going to be business as usual...

I think predicting future football success can be broken down into the following (in order of importance):

Recruiting
Coaching
Stadium Noise/Intimidation
Tradition
National Exposure
Current Team Success
Facilities
Fanbase

I deal in facts, not opinions. Try looking around on the internet for the following:

Recruiting: We are scaring the bejeezus out of Florida fans right now with our recruiting efforts. There is a reasonable chance that we will land the number one recruiting class in 2010.

Coaching: Any objective observer can see how much UT has improved during the 2009 season. Monte Kiffin is a certifiable defensive genius. Our entire staff is well respected in coaching circles.

Stadium: When UT is good, Neyland is usually ranked in the top 5 stadiums in the nation in the intimidation factor

Tradition: Top Ten All Time

National Exposure: All Kiffin All the Time !

Current Success: It'll look better by the end of the year...

Faciliities: Top ten in the nation

Fanbase: Top ten in the nation

Again, none of this is opinion, you can look all of this up if you care to take the time to do so.
