South American native woods (for grilling/BBQ)

I was curious if anyone knew of what native woods are used for grilling and BBQ'ing in South America. Mainly interested in a technique called churrasco, commonly found in Brazil.

I've already done GOOGLE searches and I still haven't been able to find what native woods they use down there.

What kind of coals? They had to come from a particular kind of native tree.

I read a link where a guy just used oak

I don't think oak woud leave a good flavor, plus it probably burns too hot. Not for sure though, never used it
