Sources: UT Athletics Mulling New Apparel Deal With Adidas

I just looked up their contact, and it appears pretty low compared to the figures DP was mentioning on the Adidas bid. I think a switch is coming.
Im sure it is different. No doubt that their Nike contract will be lower than that other school in the same state

Yes, that is one very important factor people need to understand about this potential deal. Unlike the last time we were under contract with Adidas, Tennessee now has full autonomy over their uniform designs. Under the old contract, we had to wear whatever Adidas came up with but now, we say what we wear and dont wear!

I wonder, if we switch to Adidas, does that mean this "Tennessee" logo will go away in all our branding? If so, thats unfortunate because I've grown quite fond of it.
Yeah I think it’ll go because I thought Nike came up with it. I hope that’s not the case, I’ve grown fond of it too.

I agree with the 90s shiny jerseys...I actually still have an Ainge #10 that is the shiny orange...i always thought those jerseys looked amazing in home and away. Lets get a hashtag going... #BringBackTheShine

And while we're at it, can we get the black outlines again on the orange numbers?

I really miss those unis

What is Nike paying us? What would Adidas pay us?

It's not a difficult decision. If they are within a million of each other you can stick with Nike. If Adidas would give us over a million more annually, and make us their flagship, then you have to go with Adidas.

Anywhere from tomorrow to the middle of June. Lot of details to be worked out once the pick to renew or go with someone new.
Is there anything that keeps us w/ Nike? I saw where Auburn signing w/ Nike makes them one their highest paid schools . I don’t think Auburn, not currently, is a better overall brand or outselling our merchandise. I’m trying to figure out how that’s good business for them .

Where'd you see that? The details don't appear to be public.

“I have Nike’s largest agreements with Texas and Ohio State and Michigan,” Jensen said. “And we know for a fact that Auburn’s agreement is not in line with those. So to me, it’s more probably more about Auburn not wanting to get grief because their contract does not match up with the largest and probably is less than Alabama’s, and Alabama’s is not even close to one of the largest.”

“Auburn's new deal with Nike covers 10 years and is set to make Auburn one of the highest-paid Nike-sponsored programs in the nation, according to 247Sports.”

Heard from an equipment manager on the football team, it’s a done deal, Nike countered at about 3/4 adidas price, but the administration wants the money. Players are not happy at all. He said one reciever said he may transfer because their cleats are so bad and 2 of his HS teammates got hurt wearing them

Not shocking at all. Adidas sucks, but we can potentially get more good players .

Do you have a gut feeling on how this is going to go? Do you personally think we ARE going to make this change, or do you think Nike makes a counteroffer, at least close enough for us not to make the switch?
